Tempest main spring

I am looking for a mainspring and breach seal for a Tempest. I found some in Warwickshire GB . Any US dealers have a spring?

Eric, that’s a good question. If you do find the spring & seal, let us know. I’ve got a Tempest & would like to have spare parts.

If you get the dimensions of your existing spring locating a replacement should not be difficult.  You should have the wire diameter, the spring outside diameter, and the number of turns.  With this information in hand you should be able to find something satisfactory at Air Rifle Headquarters or Vortek.  If the spring you find is correct but too long it's a simple matter to shorten it.  Is your breech seal a specialty cut or simply an O ring.  The O rings in the Lowe's plumbing department may work fine.

The breech seal is a specially-shaped part mounted on the standing breech, not an O-ring. The good news is the same part can be used on the old steel Webley pistols, and many Webley postwar barrel-cocking rifles.

Concerned about ordering. This is the place I found that had the spring and seal in stock.
I am going to go through and make sure I don’t need anything else. He seems to have everything.

I ordered the breach seal and spring and the tool to install the seal. So one day I will get it all back together.

This arrived in record time. Takes some packages longer to come from Ohio .

Got the main spring seal and tool .ill get
It assembled tomorrow night and do some chrony testing for fun. Through cleaning and polishing inside. Probably a light coat of tar not a lot .

I polished the spring guid to a mirror finish. Then brushed a light coat of black tar on the spring before reassembling the Tempest. Ran an oil patch through the barrel and she is back.  I put in a pellet and with a light pop and a puff of smoke I fired it’s first pellet in maybe twenty years.

I put a couple big premier 10 gr pellets through it just to move some oil and have lots of back pressure for the new spring. Feels nice and snappy.
I set up a steel can at 13 yards and actually hit it. And I am pretty happy with that dent and the way the can flew off.

Yes indeed the TEFLON piston guns ( Similar to an HW 45 ) will always diesel due to seal NOT wiping the compression bore as a lipped seal does.
Lube in compression tube needs to be minimal

Congrats on getting your Tempest back in action. I remember looking at the ads for those many years ago. Instead, my first spring rifle was a Japanese made Indian S-450. I shot it a lot for 20 years before finally moving up to my HW 50S.

My Indian has lost a lot of its power over the years. The spring is just weak now. It is small, about 15 mm OD, 9-ish mm ID. Is that anywhere close to the Tempest size? The usual purveyors of springs don’t sell springs in that range.

Any info is appreciated.
