Any suggestions of publicly accessible places to enjoy air rifle shooting?
I’ve heard of Markham Park but I prefer less restrictive, more casual backyard style plinking and target practice.

If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up to much space.

Is Sawgrass Park still on 27, just north of Alligator Alley? I haven't been down that way in many years, but we used to just head in to the swamp to shoot. I went to Pines Middle School in '75, and when I left south FL the Sportatorium and drag strip were still up and running. We could always go to Andytown and turn right or left (usually left) on 27 and find someplace to do things our parents didn't approve of, or just walk along the bank of the New River Canal, plinking away. Then again, I remember when Broward Blvd. turned to dirt at Pine Island Rd., so my info may be a little bit dated...
Edit: Nobody bothered us at TY Park with our Daisy 880s, but that may well have changed by now, too.

Yikes, so sorry for the very late reply. I haven't checked this post in a very long time.
Thanks Kris for the where to shoot link. The results all pointed to ranges for powder burners. Other than iguana hunting not seeing much air gun interest in my area.
Thanks Alton for all the suggestions. I do live at Century Village on Pines Blvd, so I am close to the Sportatorium. From the Maps image I do see lots of open space there. I'll drive by and see if it is accessible. If I keep going East I'll eventually hit the 27.
Sawgrass Park is further North. I'll look into that too.
I don't se any info about a drag strip near the Sportatorium. Closest one I see is the Immokalee Raceway which is closer to the West coast.
Andy Town area looks promising. Im thinking I may be able to find a large open area to pull over, set up a portable shooting table and plink plink away.
Hopefully I can link up with a few other airgun enthusiasts to enjoy plinking with.

The drag strip used to be right next to the Sportatorium, but that was a long time ago. I grew up out by 136th Ave and SR 84, before Bonaventure existed and SR 84 was a two lane road to 27. I'm sure it's a bit more crowded down there now.
