American Classic 1377 in Pieces

So, I’ve had two of these American Classic pistols… The first one I bought for shooting mice in my rental house shack about 18 years ago… it was great, I didn’t hit much but it was fun to shoot into the walls knowing the house was going to be torn down in the future…
I made a laser sight base for it that screwed onto the back.  Somewhere in the course of time I lost that pistol.  Fast forward about 7 years,  about 8 years ago, I purchased another one to attack squirrels that were destroying the garden… I think I only hit two over a 5 year span… with the open sights.  A year ago I picked it up to see if it could help me with a current squirrel problem… it was like a deflated balloon after ten pumps.. I poured some CLP type gun oil into it, thinking some leather seal needed to be swollen up to work… like MSR cook stoves… It didn’t work.  I bought myself a Daisy 880 and that gun is a squirrel buster.  No Need for the Crosman 1377 anymore…

I took it apart anyway and know I need the seal kit or a cup, or both.  I just wonder if I should waste 25 bucks on this… Maybe I should spend that cash going towards a better scope a Vortex rim fire 2-7x32.

I’ve already bought a Simmons 3-9x32 rim fire for the Daisy… but to verify it’s quality I installed it on my .17HMR rifle and it is a tack driver and the scope seems ok for it… I’ll leave it on that rifle.  I think the 1377 just will never get used much so I might just put the pieces in the scrap pile… Not sure what I wanna do… Thoughts?

The seal kit is worth it, but if you're not going to use it just pass the gun onto somebody here for parts.
Definitely don't just throw it away though, because the parts are extremely useful.

Ok Guys, good advice… it’s a heavy nice rifled barrel and a good design… I won’t let it go to waste…. I will spend 25 on the cup/seal kit and probably 13 for a 3d printed Dovetail barrel block.  I see what BackRoads has done… turned the thing into a Bolt action Rifle!

They are worth the money getting them back up to speed. Before it was over with I spent $250 putting mine back together and now it's my tree stand squirrel gun.

You can buy the parts direct from Crosman and it's way cheaper. It probably only needs the pump cup and maybe the O-ring for the valve. Usually a pump cup will get them running again.. around $2 from Crosman. On Crosmans site, go to SUPPORT. Go to OWNER'S MANUALS. Look up your owners manual and EVP. Click on PARTS DIAGRAM and find your part number that you need.  For example, the pump cup part number is 760-140. Call Crosman customer service and tell them you want to order parts, they'll need the numbers for the parts you need. Cheap, and only $4 shipping on small parts. Good luck with the project, they're well worth fixing. Great guns

It's hard not to go too far on these "lego" guns. You will rarely ever get your investment back. But, I've enjoyed the tinkering making the investment worth it to me.

I tried looking at the Crosman site before and didn’t see my gun in the pistol section… but I did not notice the “more” option… I have found it now and will try to get a pump cup on the way.

Too far? Not sure there is such a thing when it comes to these Crosmans.
I love making and modifying the parts and getting the guns up and running and enjoying shooting them
