R9/HW95 rear (short) trigger guard screw threads not biting

I was dealing with a little friction noise from the cocking shoe on my R9, so I removed the action/trigger/barrel from the stock. Relubed the shoe and channel/spring with some moly, checked for other friction, etc. all good.
Then when reseating the gun in the stock I noticed that the rear (short) screw that hold the trigger guard down was just free spinning and not biting. On further inspection I saw the hole that receives the screw is a little stretched and more oval than it should be.
I am assuming that this is from the vibration of thousands of shots. Or maybe I messed up some threading on a past reassembly?
I wrapped a little plumber tape on the screw and it’s still free spinning, but seems like it won’t just fall out now.
This is my one-stop shop for springer wisdom. Any thoughts, suggestions, or advice?

You lost the 4mm nut that slides in the back of the trigger frame.

Yup- that’s why. I guess it’s good to have a solution that just cost my pride…
Thanks for the reply.

I worked on a newer HW50 that has the trigger housing stamped to keep the nut captive. Excellent engineering, it only took forever for them to think of it.

Easy fix! Most hardware stores have that nut. Insert and squeeze the metal sides a bit to hold it in place.
May worse things never happen...

I never really noticed this taking my Weihrauch’s apart but is something I will watch for in the future. Thanks for posting!
