A little love for the LGU

Broke out my LGU for some fun on Tuesday and mounted a new Vector Marksman 4.5-18x50 on there. The poor girl had been neglected and sitting in the safe, unshot for over 6 months now. Aside from the Rowan trigger, the internals are bone stock. I shot 10x 5 shot groups with her over a period of 24hrs. I just don't have the time to sit there and punch out a whole page in one sitting these days 😞

All in all she did pretty great and I'm liking this scope. It had one slight hiccup but aside from that it worked flawlessly. 0.86 MOA / 0.27" group average at 32yds. I'd love to get my hands on a second one of these. I'd trade my 97K out for it for FT use in a heart beat.

It's basically a replacement blade but it gives you a much better adjustment range from the factory option and I love the ability to angle the shoe. As it's setup on my gun, it has a fairly short first stage and a creepless break at about 10oz. It's a great upgrade to an otherwise pretty excellent gun.

I have another and a factory blade somewhere at home. I'll see if I can find them for a side by side comparison picture

Ok here we go. The factory trigger is very basic. It has one adjustment screw to set the first stage. The Rowan on the other hand has 5 seperate adjustments. 3 for trigger travel and creep and 2 for trigger placement. You can adjust the how far set back the trigger is (about 1/2") and the height/angle of the shoe itself. It's a great little trigger.

I have seen a few mods for the LGV/LGU trigger, but not the Rowan one.
I would assume that it is the best one too.

HAD unfortunately. They've been discontinued for years and have become increasingly difficult to find. Dli would definitely recommend grabbing it if you stumble across one. Both .177 and .22 are excellent

Storms a brewing here so it was a one and done kind of thing today. Fired a single shot at a blank part of the page and then tested my zero by putting 4 more on it. Threw my 4th shot 0.15" high and there's nobody to blame but myself for that one. I saw my down range flag twitching and let one rip anyway. One of these days I'll learn...

LGU's (and LGV's) are very interesting rifles.

For a time, there were several makers of aftermarket triggers. However, with the demise of the model, they are getting hard to get.

BTW, there is an LGV for sale (not by me); not cheap but then, unobtainium is worth whatever it is worth in the eye of the beholder, I don't know if it is "kosher" to post a link to other classifieds. So I will not post the link.
