Daisy Shutting down Crosmans Bloomfield NY Plant

I think we all know by now that Daisy purchased Crossman. But if you haven't heard yet now you know!

I have lived within an hour of the Bloomfield plant my whole life. I have many friend and relatives that have worked there. I bumped into a gentleman last night at work and the topic of him looking for a new job came up. I asked him where he worked currently and he told me that he worked for Crosman. He proceeded to tell me that Daisy is shutting down the plant and moving everything to Arkansas.

I have purchased Crosman airguns my whole life. I realize that they make very little here in the US anymore (it's mostly assembly at the plant) but I have always felt like by supporting them I was supporting my local community and keeping food on peoples tables. I am optimistic that the Crosman name and parts availability will be carried on by Daisy but only time will tell.

People in Arkansas need food on the table too, so better there than Bengla Desh at least.  I wonder what happens to the Crosman service stations?  Gamo and BSA are probably the least responsive manufacturers in terms of parts, product support and service.

A few years back, at the ShotShow, I asked the CEO of Hatsan USA why so many airgun companies are headquartered in Arkansas.  He said that most
American airgun executives had started at Daisy, lived there, didn't want to move so just moved the company instead.  The foreign owners are ok with Arkansas, don't need pricey addresses.

I was surprised that crosman stayed in NY to begin with. It seems to me it would be so much more expensive to do business there than AR. Taxes!

Gamo, Europe's largest manufacturer of airguns, took over BSA Guns in the 1980s, and manufacturing was subsequently divided between the two firms, with the springers being made in Spain and the PCPs in England; now both brands are owned by an American private equity group, BRS.  Bruckmann, Rosser, Sherill & Co, a New York-based private equity firm.

Nobody from Crosman knows anything..or at least they ain't talkin'

All I know is that parts for CURRENT PRODUCTION 2100's and Legacy 1000's have been obsoleted.......... except for the valve
If the part # starts with 2100...................nope.

Man, wouldn't that be the perfect way get a sudden boost on sales?   just sayin'.
Me? I'm gonna ride it out and see where it goes. Crosman's most recent offerings didn't do anything warm and fuzzy for me anyways.
Worse case scenario for me would be that all those custom lego builds that I put way too much money in might become obsolete and I may be able to recover just a little bit of my investment.  The way it is right now, I'll never get back any where near what I put in. 
The way I see it is that the problems got bad for them when the big box brick and mortars succumbed to the pressures and stopped selling them.

I'm pretty sure I contacted with a few receptionists there and ordered lots of Crosman springs and doo-dats with help from them.  Sorry to hear they're closing shop there...I was in Quebec back then, and it was just a bit over the Can.- US border.

The timing is interesting considering the release of the anniversary edition 362. It is a shame to hear this, nothing against Daisy. Hopefully the changes won't be too drastic but if they are closing the New York shop and parts are already being obsoleted on current airguns... doesn't look promising for their awesome parts department. Just have to wait and see where the chips fall when it is all said and done.

It is indeed the end of an era... No museum, no crosman FT, no custom shop... and soon enough you wont be able to buy parts... neither from Daisy or crosman. Has anyone tried to get Gamo to send them parts? impossible to say the least...
Plus anyone noticed that the day Daisy got bought out by Gamo, the daisy 880 went from 35$ to 70$? the RR up to 35 from 25, the buck from 18 to 30... nothing changed but the overlords...
