362 LE trigger etc.

Got my 362 Legacy Edition today. Cleaned the barrel and then shot groups at 20 and 25 yards. It retains air at 8 pumps. I can get decent groups at about 1 inch at both distances resting my elbows on a table. I may try a smaller aperture tomorrow and a front and rear bag. Today I took the trigger apart and polished the contact surfaces, put a lighter trigger blade return spring in and loosened (bent) the safety detent/sear spring. The trigger pull is much lighter and the detent moves easier now. There was a lot of creep though, so I put a screw on the bottom of the trigger guard to limit the intermediate "link"? and the sear engagement. It is now a very light, crisp trigger. I tested the gun by banging it around to try and get it to fire. Passed that test. The stock is nice, but I am block sanding it to get rid of sanding marks, waves and odd divots. Plan to seal it with boiled linseed oil and paste wax. should be really pretty when done. I am wondering if the front sight will accept the Williams Western globe sight with a fiber optic insert. I have one mounted on a 2250 and the fiber optic "dot" is finer. I really like it on that gun. May try swapping that also. I am having fun and want to put in a stronger hammer spring and larger transfer port. Will chronograph before and after.

Nice report, I really like this model. Personally I think the metal trigger alone feels more crisp over the plastic one, wish they’d do that on all of them. I’d be interested if you find other front sights... might be good options for stock 362s also.

Small update on my new 362 Legacy Edition serial number 1381. Block sanded the entire stock with 100 grit to remove the stain? finish. It really gummed up the sand paper. I reshaped, leveled, removed existing sanding marks etc., until it was to my liking. Finished with 220, then 320 grit. I had to touch up the stippling? edge with my pocket knife and a brown sharpie marker. One coat of boiled linseed oil mixed with turpentine made it look great. I put a Crosman spring guide behind the stock hammer spring and now it clears the air at ten pumps. 14.34 ft/lbs avg at 8 pumps and 15.79 ft/lbs at 10 pumps. I will check the Fit of the Williams globe front sight next.

The Williams Western Precision Muzzleloader Globe Sight w/ Fiber Optic Insert - Front Sight Only - 61819 fits onto the front of the 362 Legacy Edition, if backwards. The fiber optic dot is much finer. I like the globe to center within the aperture. Sometimes I get lucky and the globe ring lines up with the target rings, making aiming easy, even with old eyes. The finish on the stock looks very similar to the original, but no flaws now. Easy to apply the boiled linseed oil.

I also have the inserts, but the fiber optic post is most versatile. Interestingly, I found painting them silver worked best in most of the varying light and contrast situations.

Shot some indoor groups at 12 yards. The rear sight must be raised pretty high. I will test tomorrow outside at 20 and 25 yards. May have to switch to taller rear peep. I have a Williams 5D-AG which is pretty high. She is holding air at ten pumps again. I may try a larger transfer port and enlarge the barrel port. It is a little hard to cock already, so I will not install a stiffer spring. I also ordered a longer brass cocking handle to make cocking easier.

I like the looks of that front sight but yikes, it's not cheap. Do you know of a fine fiber optic front with a hood instead of the globe?
Enjoying your review and insights! Scott
