I just picked up a Crosman Nitro Venom and it should arrive in 2-3 days . . . I like the way the sling mount works on the Benjamin Trail NP & Trail NP XL's.

I am thinking about the possibility of swapping the appropriate Benjamin Parts into the Crosman to give it the same sling capability . . . Thoughts ?

As far as I can tell from Parts Lists and Schematics the Crosman Nitro Venom and the Benjamin Trail NP share the same action / engine . . . Is that true and can the parts that allow the Forward Sling Swivel on the Benjamin be swapped into the Nitro Venom ?

Also, do ALL of the parts interchange between the Benjamin Trail NP and the Benjamin Trail NP XL's, specifically the Gas Ram ?

If the Gas Rams will interchange from the NP XL to the NP, and the NP uses the same action / engine as the Nitro Venom, a performance gain may be possible . . . Thoughts ?

I have heard that the XLs have a longer stroke (hence different parts) but never owned either....

I've shot a Trail NP AW and I own a Venom Dusk. From memory, the actions are externally identical, but the barrels are different since the Trail has the shrouded barrel and the Venom the plain barrel with plastic oversized muzzle blob. I believe the Trail XL series is different internally than the AW, so expect a different spring/piston/etc there. There are parts diagrams for the AW, XL etc on the Crosman site, but the Venom is still new so there is no parts diagram yet.

Benji Trail XL is actually a magnum springer, so it has a larger piston with a longer cocking stroke, but with the Nitro Venom and Trail NP they have the same piston and compression chamber.

barrel between a titan and trail can be swapped, i think stocks can be swapped.. id be willing to bet triggers can be swapped..

I'm 99.8% sure that they will transfer. They are basically the same gun, with only minor differences, none of which will matter in this case. Only 1 way to find out FOR SURE... break em down and try lol. I do know that the gas piston from the XL won't fit though...

I am mainly curious about adding a Benjamin Trail XP-style forward sling swivel to my Crosman Nitro Venom.

I have looked at the Schematics and the Parts Lists and the numbers are "similar yet different", as they change the names for each model and the numbers appear "close" but not identically numbered.

My main concern is that the breech of the XP may be different than the NV, since the sling swivel rides between the cocking rod and the breech. I doubt they would use a thinner (weaker) part on the XP, just so a sling swivel could be mounted.

I suspect that the slot in the breech on the XP is milled wider than the one on the Nitro Venom but, of course, I don't know !

The part about using the Benjamin Trail NP XL gas ram in the Crosman Nitro Venom was only "wishful thinking" ;-) !

Well, according to my FedEx Tracking Number, the Nitro Venom should arrive sometime tomorrow . . .

Mod #1 will be a CDT GRT-III trigger . . . Then, I'll try to move forward with the Sling Swivel conversion, if possible .

If anyone out there who has a Benjamin NP could take a few measurements for me, it would really be a big help . . . Thanks, in advance !

Well, she arrived the day before Thanksgiving, just as we were heading out to visit friends out of town. I got home about 10:30pm on Saturday night, opened everything up to check it out and mount the scope.

The Nitro Venom has a nice balance and feel to it, but I haven't tried it out yet ( tomorrow ! ) . . . My first mod will be the CDT GRT-III trigger, which I will order next week.

Could someone out there who own a Benjamin Trail XP please measure the width of the slot in the breech for me, where the cocking rod and sling mount attaches?

I am still going to take a shot at adding the Benjamin Trail XP forward sling swivel to my Crosman Nitro Venom, as soon as I can get enough dimensional info . . . Thanks, in advance !

You would have to say that while my new trigger is still a few days away . . . LOL !

I am really looking forward to Charlie's trigger in my Nitro Venom. . . Let me ask you a couple of questions?

How much lighter would you guess the trigger pull to be ?

Is the second stage of the trigger still a mile long, but only lighter ?

Pounds off the pull!!! That should be a selling pitch for the trigger! LOL. You can adjust the second stage to as long or as hairlike as you want but be advised that the shorter you make the second stage the more chance your safety wont work... so adjust accordingly and enjoy!

At what point did you notice the safety function to start becoming an issue ?
