Daisy 35 Reseal....1st Ever

I am resealing a Daisy 35.......FIRST one ever..........

All is good using an 880 seal kit...............except......
Does the oil wiper for the 880 fit the 35 piston??

I did not actually measure, but it appears that the plastic 35 piston takes an oil wiper with a larger I.D.

Izzat correct?
Does Daisy sell seal kits specifically for a 35?

I don't even have a parts schematic for the 35.
Anybody got one to share??

A video by "Daisy 880 fanatic Fix it" on Youtube on rehabbing 880, 901, 35 he states the kits are all the same.  He shows putting the wiper on a Daisy 35.

I also found a couple pdf's that I had forgotten about.  First time trying the attachments so here goes.

Well it didn't get both so I'll try again.  Checked the part #'s and there the same for 35 and 880 for the wiper.

The parts list (thank you!) and the video both say that the seal kit is the same as for the 880.
Well, yes.....and no.

The foam wiper for the 880 has an I.D. of .375". I have punched many......
The one in the video is WAY bigger than .375" I.D.
The piston for the 35 measures .475" at tuhe bottom of the oil wiper groove.

First of all, there is NO WAY the unaltered 880 foam ring will stretch over the .730" O.D. of the piston to get onto position.
Second, even if it did, stretching the .375" out to .475 would push the O.D. out too far....it would be too big.

So, I first punched a wiper for an 880 out to .4375", then tried to install it...........nope. it broke.
The next closest size punch I have is ..500"....so.i tried that...
Success! I got it installed and all is well.

I have a Daisy 35 but it's still stock.  Never open one up.  Glad you got it worked out.

Well, I've learned a lot about oil wipers since I last posted.  I thought I was settled about the wiper thing since Ronno6 last posted but my mind wouldn't let it go.  Why was all the info I could find say that these seal kits from Daisy Models 880, 35 etc .....are for both?  Daisy - part #'s the same for both.  Multiple sellers on Amazon - same same.  Sellers on EBay - same same.  Even a seller on Amazon listing a single wiper saying 880 & 35.  Has nobody on the Net ever changed a oil wiper on a 35 and reported it.  So I figured the only way I was going to get over this was try it myself.  Ordered some seal kits and a few other parts I wanted to have on hand.  Put the order in on 22 April 2024 and received it on 26 April 2024. 

With my little envelope of treasures I headed down stairs to my tinkering/airgun/range - grabed a 880 off the rack + a screw driver and pulled the piston.  I thought I might as well make it as easy as possible and if the OEM wiper wouldn't stretch over the head of the piston it'd be settled once and for all.  Well the first shock came when I pulled a new wiper out of a seal kit.  LOOK AT THAT TINY LITTLE HOLE IN THAT THING.     Grabbed my dial calipers and measured it - .338.  Now I know I couldn't make it bigger by measuring it but I kept trying for a while.  That passed and I picked it up and tried it anyway.  First try I got it over head just in front of the o-ring.  Then picking, stretching and sliding I got that little bugger onto the bumper and then into the grove without any damage.  Well now I HAD   to try it on the 35.  I was assuming the piston head's where the same size - which they were.

I've never opened up a 35 but using the video posted it came apart even a little easier than I thought it would.  Pulled the wiper off - EZPZ - just like the video.  Stretched the new wiper on - looked easier in the video but it went on and into the grove pretty easy.  But it stuck up a little bit and made me think this might not work so good if it catches the rim going into the compression tube like not work at all.  The compression tube was right there so might as well try it.  Lined it up and was trying to be easy getting the o-ring in when it popped in all the way past the wiper.  Pulled it out and in a few times and desided to leave it on the piston and reassemble the rifle.  Everything went good and it WORKED - the gun I mean.

Well I guess it will work - but I want to use it a while and see what happens.  Oiled it up and shot it a few times.  Flipped it over in my lap and looked at that wiper.  Settled in just fine.  I guess maybe Daisy, Amazon and EBay are right.  Anyway if I needed to replace a wiper in a 880 or 35 again I'd do it the same way.  It was a little easier than I wrote it up to be but doing it again would be way easier.
