New shootin' lane

Since some of the property here sold and we cleaned out the Red Shed for a shootin' shack my range was reduced to a max of 35 yds. out either side of the shed. I have a window with a bench set up out the North side of the shop to a backstop at 35yds. That's where we ran the fence line to keep the dogs in the yard.
But if you look into the woods behind the fence, I have another acre. My atv trails runs through those woods to the barn.

I haven't measured yet but I estimate I can get 65 to 75 yds. from the bench to the new backstop/target.
There is a raised area that stays dry just behind those fallen trees you can see through the woods.
First thing I did this morning was to move that brush pile just behind the fence. Then I moved the target stand on the left.

I'm not the only one excited about the new shootin' lane.
The kids sang me a happy song in 2 part harmony.

But their excitement soon faded and they went back to their normal routines.

Meanwhile, back at the shootin' lane. I walked out and took a few pics of the backstop location and a look back at the shootin' window.
Shouldn't be too much to clear the lane.

The most I can get is 50' in the back yard.

The best parts are that I can just open that window and shoot with the heat or a/c on in the shed. I have insulated gun cabinets and 3 compressors set up. I have the fridge for beverages and streaming video/music.
Casting corner is set up for pellet making and I have 3 work benches for various kinds of work/tinkering.
Then, as I mentioned, I can hop on an atv and buzz down to change targets.

Man, I'm a sweaty mess.
But the backstop is done and I got almost all the trees and brush cleared. I sat at the bench and I can see a few still in the field of sight. The range finder hit 51 yds but it may have bounced off a bush. I'd be just fine if it was 51yds.
I need to take a break and hydrate up some. That swamp is years of decomposed leaves and wood. It's black, smelly and slimey. It does dry up after the rainy season is over.
So far no snakes but I'm still keeping one eye on the ground. That is prime habitat for all 3 species we have here that will send your butt to the hospital.

I went back out and cleared the offending limbs and bushes out of the lane. I have a clear sight to the backstop now. The range finder hits a solid 77yds. I'll mark off 50yds on the lane so I can hang portable targets. The main things is that the 77yd backstop will keep anything from leaving my property. It is made of rough sawn 2x12 planks soaked in creosote. They are hard as a brick. At 30yds a .25 pellet at 40 FPE breaks the skin but does not penetrate.

The NoDoze is NOT going to be the gun to shoot 77yds. with the current tune and 14.3 pellets. POA dropped a good 16" with a 3 or more inch group. I'm sure wind had some bearing on it.
I'll give it a try with the .25 Avenger at 40 fpe.
