NOTOS arrived

Morning....
Well, I threw caution to the wind this morning....
First thing I did was add one of the 3D printed LDC inserts that have been floating around the forum that was generously gifted to me by HotelTwoFive...  thank you Gavin.
Just for the record, the retaining pins on this gun came out from bottom to top with the knurling at the top. I also had to remove the 2 o-ring on the insert to get it to slip in. Once removed it slipped in snuggly and the pins push right into place and a couple taps sent the knurls home.
It's a bit quieter, I suppose but nothing to do back flips over. I didn't find the gun excessively load in the first place. I'm not even sure if I'll leave it in because it added about 3" to the OAL of the gun.

Next I pulled the hammer spring out and clipped maybe 2 1/2 coils and dressed the end. I only had to put about 1/16 pressure on the cap to get it to catch a thread. That worked out well because I wanted minimal preload with the full range of adjustment. I got the clipped end fairly flat but I put that end in the hammer so the hammer would act as a guide and the spring was less apt to skew.
I put the adjuster screw back in to flush and fired up the chrono.
I topped the gun up to 3600 psi and loaded up some 14.3 CPUM pellets.

I think I need new batteries in the chrono or the BT unit because it missed 4 shots in the middle of the string.

Regardless I got a great string for a full 3 mags. I deleted the last shot because it fell off the reg and would have needlessly affected my numbers.

So now I've made an executive decision....
I will forego all previous goals of 4 mags at 600 fps. I'm going to stay right where I am.
I only have 2 mags so I'm going to purchase 1 CARM mag so shot count equals fill time.
I'll replace the factory and modified SPA mags if and when they fail with additional CARM mags.
I'm not going to add the plenum kit and I'm not going to hack the LDC off.

well even in your situation (loud is proud) u know the gun is quiet…but an FYI that 3-d extender works great…for me Ive quit worrying about the neighbors…now its just for the cool no noise factor …lol..besides surgically removing those factory moderators seems to be quite the challenge…..good luck..

PS…I have an extender for the urban on the way…

If u decide in the future to install the plenum …I will donate the rest of the kit to u…if u feel like hacking….lol

I had the same problem with the tube n plenum went with another barrel. Just happen to have a longer kral barrel on hand that worked perfect no modifications.

That's the other side of the coin for me... I like that factory compactness of the NOTOS.
I just shot another string without the chrono and focused on the report. Yeah, I can tell the difference. I have to remember that I'm shooting within the confines of the Red Shed. I stepped out the door for a couple shots and it is very quiet.
That unmoderated "lego" we were shooting yesterday echoed and cracked through the woods. This gun had no such reports. Pellet hitting target was much louder.
Now I just have to collapse the stock so the gun fits the case I have for it....  no biggie there.

No I only bought the parts for the moderator…did not feel I needed the plenum ….I thought if I bought the parts for moderator ,it would give me incentive to chop off the factory….but I chickened out and opted for extender….good luck

Got ya... I suppose if I was going for power as some folks here do I would opt for the drop bottle. But for my intended use that would be adding alot of bulk to the gun. I already have guns that produce 40fpe for 50+ shots.

Right there with you except I Neanderthalled my factory mag the first month and pleased with my 12 round CARM (just had to measure for scope mounts).  I also Neanderthalled the adjustable stock and have a true "A" frame Magpul looking stock (came with a QDC hole) so I can carry with a 1 or 2 point sling.

Y'all know what they say.. "A man's tinkering is never done".

Some time back I bought a .177 3 pc. CARM mag set for the SPA guns. 2 mags and the flip out single shot loader. I don't think I've ever even used the SSL. .177 pellets are way to tiny for me to fiddle with loading them... (sausage finger syndrome)
I have some JSB Jumbo 33.956 diablo pellets that don't fit the NoDoze mags... do ya see where I'm going here?

I filed off the guide rail so the SSL would fit the breech snuggly. Then I drilled it out so the bolt would operate smoothly.
IT WORKS !!!

I shot 5 rounds over the chrono with my current tune and got an average of 465 fps and upper 16 fpe.
But the best part is... I shot it 20yds. into one of my 3mm high strength steel blanks and it sounded like a Church bell ringing. Those things carry some serious muscle down range.

high shot count on a fill the 5mall mags are more of a pain to keep reloading vs single loadin, since it seems like, I'm not ready to stop and reload after 4 mini mags

Pretty sure I can squeeze a good 30 consistent shot per fill tune out of the NoDoze. 12-14 fpe with a 14.3 pellet would make it a formidable plinker/pester at 30 or so yards.

The Maple mag arrived this morning. I had to make a minor adjustment to the scope location so it would fit under it ahead of the turret housing. Not much, just moved the scope back about 1/8" to clear the mag. Fits right in now with maybe 1/16" clearance to the tube.
I gotta say, this mags functions miles smoother than the factory or SPA mags. No pre setting the first pellet like I had to with the factory mag. No bass ackwards loading of the first pellet like the SPA mag. Another great thing is that I can just pull the mag and top it off with pellets even if it's not empty.
It has a black dot on the orange carousel that will align with orange numbers on the black case showing the last 3 shots. These are big and bold enough to easily read.
Yeah, I'll be getting a couple more of these.

A pleasant discovery....
When I decided to order this mag from Maple I was a bit disappointed because the video I watched of the guy loading a mag I counted him loading 10 pellets... I watched it twice. The CARM mag advertises a 12 count capacity. I was under the impression that I would need 3 Maple mags for my goal of 30 shots per fill.
Apparently, the video did't show the guy completely filling the mag. I just counted as I loaded the Maple mag. It holds 15 .22 pellets.   NICE !!!
2 mags will be perfect for me.

I remember at one point during 2014 - 2015 we described the the FD-PCP as boringly accurate.
I don't know about y'all but my NoDoze is just that. I shot a hole in the center of the target at 20yds. with a 14.3 CPUM and followed it by 2 more shots. I couldn't figure out what happened... where did those shots go?
I moved to the next bullseye over and hit dead center. I moved back to the original hole and fired a shot... again, I could not see where the pellet went.  That's because they were going in the exact same hole.
I own some accurate guns but this one is what I call stupid accurate.
Not only that but I was smacking the nasty out of the Hiram resettable flippers at 35 yds. I have 3 sets side by side. I knocked all 12 up and back down with with one 15 shot mag. That's a perfect score.  Impressive.
