I replaced the spring with a BIC lighter spring.
I did a bit of polishing here and there with some die stones I have from my tool and die tech days.
I took the needle point off of the trigger adjustment screw and polished it up.
I adjusted the small rear Allen screw up a couple turns.
The I put a thin layer of some really slick red grease I have. It came from an old school gunsmith that sent me a box of misc. Crosman parts a few years ago on all contact points and pivots.
A WORLD of difference !!!

You might want to add a little of the red grease to the cocking lever also, it might smooth that out some.  That is the one area that still needs attention on mine, it's still stiff and a little crunchy...

Next I went after that gritty cocking lever. Basically I just applied some of that red grease and worked it into the bolt and groove. I also put a drop of Secret Sauce on the pivots. It's much better but not quite buttery smooth. I think it will wear in. If not I will go back in later a knock some sharp edges off.

Next I pulled the stock apart. I cleaned what looked like silicone grease (maybe white lithium grease) off with alcohol so a narrow strip of duct tape would stick to it. I ended up putting 2 layers on. Nice and snug now.

I backed the hammer screw out one turn before I put the stock back on.

Then I got up close and personal with that mag. I am so used to the SPA mags that I just assumed that these would load the same way... spin the dial and insert the first pellet backwards from the back... nope, not the mama... not for me anyways.
But, went I loaded it from the top I got no joy either. The pellet probe would kinda jam and I don't want to force it. I took an Allen wrench and set that first pellet. I felt it kinda set into place. Badda bing, happy rooster. Cock a doodle do.

By the numbers.....

I backed the HS all the way out because I could just tell the gun was shooting hot. As far as I can guess it was delivered 2 1/2 turns in from flush.
I shot Crosman pellets because they are what shoots accurate for me. Why chrono a pellet that is not accurate?
The results tell me I need to spend some money  This gun will need to be bottled and throttled to make me happy with shot count. I could adjust the regulator down to around 600 fps but that's not going to gain me much more than another 4 shots.

Hmmm...Just for gits and shiggles I loaded up a mag of the JTS 18.1gr pellets and held the same 1/2" group as the CPUM did @ 25yds. I don't know if backing off the hammer spring did it or if maybe the barrel seasoned in. So I shot 2 more mags with the same results.
Has anyone adjusted the regulator? Which direction increases and which direction decreases?

We got my neighbor's new Notos set up and zeroed today.  Oddly, his cocking lever was really smooth with no magazine it in.  We had a lot of problems with the pellets feeding smoothly using that little magazine that cam in it.  I went and grabbed my CARM mag and used it for the rest of the shooting session.  I'm thinking CARM is going to get a new order later tonight!     His trigger was horrible, but I told him how to fix it.  I may end up doing that for him later. 

After shooting the Notos for a while, I brought out a couple of my other airguns for him to try...  Talk about leading someone blindly into the Rabbit Hole, poor guy didn't know what hit him!  I had him try the FX Dream-Tac and the AA S510 XS.  He's more of a tactical guy, so he liked the looks of the Dream-Tac and how smooth the action is, but the trigger on the S510 XS really blew him away!

Since he said he's a tactical kinda guy, I had to finish it up by letting him shoot the LSC SK-19!  He had no clue what it was.  I set it up on the bag and told him to go a head and take a shot.  I had it set to Semi-auto.  He took a shot said he really liked it and then asked how he cocked it to take another shot.  I said just pull t trigger, it's semi-auto.  After another couple shots he was grinning ear to ear.  I said go ahead and take one more, but I failed to tell him I had switched it to full-auto.  He squeezed off a perfect 3 round burst and immediately said, I gotta have one of these!     Yep, I think I hooked him!

I adjusted the regulator this morning. I had been reading about it and I think I may have been misled a bit. The posts I read on the AGN lead me to believe that the reg adjustments bore much more substantial results than I got. Most suggested only adjusting 1/8 turn at a time. I wanted a little less fps than what they got so I went 3/16 turn in.
I think I would prefer even less than what I have now but I still got my 3 full mags above 600 but the sweet spot is still in the 670s for 17 shots. Oh and I should mention that this string is with the 18.1 JTS.

I'm not totally upset with those numbers because accuracy is spot on at my 25 to 35 yds. range. And those FPE numbers are good enough to humanely take out a pest within that range.
I'm not sure if it's worth the effort to readjust. I may at some point. But again, I'm also considering a bottle.

So out of this thread I get the stuff I came for:  accuracy, how to deal with fiddly bits, and some excellent discourse regarding thoughts, expectations, and factual performance.
