NOTOS arrived

Got to the shooting deck with the NoDoze after a minor clean up and a store run.
As I said, the JTS 18.1 stack pellets and I zeroed it at 30yds. last time out.
Next I tried the CPUM and CPHP and both stacked at 2 mil left.
Finally I tried the 217 hunters and magnums at 19.3 and 22.40 respectively. Both opened to 1" groups.
I'm sure I could do better with the heavier pellets by increasing power and sacrificing shot count.
I have 4 tins of JTS and 10 tins of CPHP/CPUM on hand and I'm not willing to change my tune until those are gone.

I'm going to explore a theory with the Notos.  I might see how hard I can push the CPHP.  If I can get them to deform and group $0.023/rnd would make it hard to keep casting 217RF20s.  IF I can't get both objectives with the CPHPs I'll return to a 20fpe 24 shot per fill JSB/JTS 18 tune (and shoot the casts for backyard endless recycle plinkers).  I too can get an all touching group at 15 yards but at 24 my 217RF20s open up to a Nickle sized ragged hole with a Quarter sized halo around it....

I haven't shot my NoDoze in a few days. I'm waiting the M-Lok fore grip to arrive from Buck Rail. I'd like to find an angled Magpul type grip for it but they seem to think they are made of gold or something.
Betty Lou wanted some keyed alike cabinet locks to lock up guns and ammo so I added some M-Lok screws and nuts for adding the picca rail and other accessories if I choose to.

I have several of these on lego guns….maybe too bulky for your needs…good luck

My Notos CPHP experiment didn't get anywhere near 850fps.  Settled on a 19.75fpe tune with 24 Apollo18s stacked in one hole at 15yards on one fill (0fps ES).  The 217RF19.4 NOEs settled at 20fpe and about 7ES in a ragged hole about nickle size at 15 yards.  Don't want to do anything irreversible to the AG at this point and don't want to touch anything on an AG that chronos 24 duplicate 703fps shots on one fill.....

The consistency of the platform is surprisingly consistent. I have opened one up to really breathe as an experiment and the es was still quite low at 39fpe.

I think you could get a little more without disturbing the harmony but it looks like you have a nice thing going there.

Okay 35-39fpe sounds tempting if the ES remains low.  Care to share what reversible and non-reversible mods got you there?
The TR Rob valve stem opened up my pp800r so I was considering that and another 1/8th turn on the regulator (at the expense of shot count I'm sure).
I'm assuming you opened the TP to 4mm and added volume to the valve/ported flow paths?

Opened transfer path to .213”
Opened barrel transfer to equivalent
Moved probe shoulder back and thinned
Made a flat seat valve w/peek poppet
Poppet stem .078”
Factory valve spring
Opened up the tank mount path
Added a plenum to make 21cc of vol.

Transfer path required tapping bottom drill plug for 1/4-28 and making a new screw, the same oring was used here.

I set the factory reg at 2600’ish checked via the bleed port.

Like I said, just an experiment and I haven’t checked accuracy yet. I do plan on putting a tp choke so I can tune back down.

Many thanks for sharing. I've considered the plenum but the shroud removal is irreversible and requires a lathe and/or courage, neither of which I have, mixed with Murphy's luck. I think I'm around 2200ish on the regulator from others 2600 on the reg would take my 24 shot count down to around 18 and increase the muzzle report.

I think for me things over 35 yards or that don't go down with a 20fpe headache will have a 100fpe .303 chest hole the next time I see them....lol

Completely understandable. Like I mentioned, this was just an experiment. Fwiw, I feel that a significant increase could be had by opening up the barrel transfer and the choke point in the tube mounting block.

Yep... today is a NoDoze shootin' kinda day. It likes the 19.2 and 19.4 RF Hunter cast pellets along with the JTS 18.1.
I hook the gun to the CS3 and while it tops off I load to 15 shot mags. After those 30 shots I fall off the reg then rinse and repeat.
This is the perfect tune for me. I would like the trigger a tad bit shorter and lighter. I may go back in after it one day.

Yeah ,I shot my commander .177 after I got the a-frame and hoist set up…lol… with 30 mm AO scope 12 lbs.. on bathroom scale…then switched over to the 3677 and felt like shooting a feather…..good luck

That looks pretty cool! It's not for me though. I'm trying to keep my Notos as anorexic as possible.

It's aluminum so shouldn't weigh much more than stock.

Yep, as you can see I have the wheel on the scope for focus. With the oem lever I had to kinda get my finger under it to cock the gun... not any more... works great.
