I Neutered My Notos . . .

 Well After shooting the bottled Notos for a good number of rounds and crony testing  690 fps with 21gr H&N slugs, and a kill, I decided to switch out the unregulated bottle for the 1800 psi regulated one, I had on the Jet.
 So after shooting the Jet down low enough I would not feel bad wasting a full fill of air, then the Notos next, shot some targets at a fairly fast pace, the Chipper targets got the brunt of the crony shots.

So, what is the FPS now with the regulated bottle attached?

 So bottles empty or close to it, the swap began, the first to get the swap was the Jet, 3000 psi bottle and regulator confirmed by Jet tube gauge in bar. fill to 2500 for a quick leak test, no air gushing, leak detector detects no air escaping either 
 A couple test for function shots declared all is good with this one, time for some crony work so top off to 3000, I am seeing a nice string in the 570 fps range, with H&N Hunter pellets, nice useable back yard pesting power 



 Next up was the Notos, I had to remove the barrel to put the regulated bottle on , but did not need to do so to take the unregulated bottle off, as the AV fill fitting was a bit shorter and cleared.
 I had a few trial and errors to get a seal, then remembered the orings that came with the drop block, problem solved. 
No leaks detected, on with the crony work with the 1800 psi regulated bottle 1800 psi confirmed.
 Now is the fun part guess how many FPS is my Notos shooting 16.9 gr Norma pellets now

 OK I guess if there is no prize to win 413 FPS with 15.9 gr Norma, and 426 fps with Norma 14 gr W/C . It makes for a sweet indoor plinker
 I am assuming I need that plenum extension if I want power

 While shooting targets I wanted to use wadcutter pellets but had to single load and sometimes fidget a pellet into the breach, then the light came on , this YOuTuber  All About Airguns had this mod for the pellet probe, it helped feed the pellet squarely into the breach, with hopes it may help.                            
 Well it did, never a jam over hundreds of shots, even with the OEM mags, prior to this I only could use CARM ones reliably. Pics of tubing used to slip over the probe, smallest one used, the larger work as probe orings, AKA O-Ring Delete mod.

 I did manage to double load a pellet, I had to take the extended moderator out, was able to shake one pellet out but the other was mangled and I had to drill it out There was no impact damage to the internals prior to drilling, and about as much lead as plastic came out in the proses. All back together , with a fresh new carbon fiber look

 I was down to my last row on this target when the double load happened, I shoot and think to myself where did the hole go                   Argh!!!

Couldn't you just take the top cover off the breech and put some strips of tape on top of the bolt or the bottom of the cover to dial out the free play?

BACK_ROADS nice idea on the tubing but does it cover the transfer port hole and block some of the air passage ? I think when I sleeved my .22 probe to change to .25 I had to trim back the sleeve as it was at or past the transfer port.

 The tubing is indeed weed eater line, I need some for my chain saw now too LOL. I ran crony numbers before and after and actually got a slight 2- 3 fps increase. It is a very snug fit and perhaps a slightly longer piece would double as a probe seal if it can be persuaded further up the probe maybe with a heat gun to assist

I see most of the free play in the pellets as they ar pushed by the bolt, the wad cutters wil shift with the thin bolt probe. LOL I have a feeling it would help seat slugs square also, though they were always very easy loading and accurate fron the get go with this Notos.

Thanks for the reply. I use Carm mags and so far no issues. Have to keep that tubing mod in mind.

 I had a theory that I needed more plenum to get the FPE up a bit more, so I took drastic measures to get more regulated air volume...

 Well on disassembly and reassembly, it may have been an error on my part, as the barrel port was possible turned enough to have closed it off by 75% or better But went ahead and did this mod anyway, couldn't hurt.
 I was assuming that the extended part of the bonnet was taking up valuable air space, so I machined  hacked it off right where the threads begin.
 Well back together, and zipping right along, Norma 17.5 gr pellets hole n hole at 678 Fps.



 PS Lesson learned, if you want to reduce the power of a Notos, just clock the barrel over the port to block it as much as desired LOL

 I got curious about the hammer spring last night, turned mine out all the way in 1/2 turn steps, found I gained 10 fps with it all the way out, from 3/4 turn from full in Room to compress a few coils and get some actual adjustment IMO.

I noticed there is at least 1/4" preload on the stock hammer spring before the first thread even catches. And that's a fairly beefy spring. With a regulated gun, even at 2200 psi, that's alot of strike force on the poppet IMO.
