Would this scope be appropriate for a spring piston air rifle? I know many airgunners prefer mil-dot reticles but is it really a deal breaker if a scope doesn't have one ? I've researched this scope today and I really like it, I was thinking of putting it on my Diana 350 .22

i have several Leupold scopes, including two of the 2-7 EFR scopes.  The lens quality is extremely good, and a lifetime warranty, even if you are not the original owner is great.
The fine crosshairs do not cover up small targets like some of my cheaper scopes will.  I was recently doing some research on the scope you mentioned and there were a lot of positive comments on them.  I think it would serve you well.  As I understand it, it is air gun rated.

Mildot reticles are preferred  by airgunners because of airguns loopy trajectory. The slower the pellet the more a mildot is helpful.

If you shoot only one distance mildots aren't necessary. If you only have target board set at 25 yards. You zero the gun there. But if you set a second board at 50 yards you'll want mildots because you'll be several inches low at 50 yards.

It's really what fits your shooting situation
