Frustrated with mrod

Ok, to start off, i don't have a chrony, so this is subjective.

I filled the mrod tank to 3K psi.  After two shots it dropped to 2800 and that's about how it worked.  Most of the posts I've read said they get a good 16 shots out of the gun, usually ending around 1800 psi.

It only takes me 10-12 shots to get that low on air pressure with the factory settings.  That just doesn't seem right.  Any suggestions?

What caliber is it...?

If your Mrod is second hand it's possible that someone messed with the settings. Or it may have Comte from the factory that way. The only way to know what is going on is by getting a chrony. Without a chrony it is impossible to analyze PCP performance

It's the 25 caliber, new in box from Pyramyd.

On top of that, the magazine is not tightly fitting and jiggles around, which locks the cocking bolt.  Driving me insane (in other words it misaligns the pellet, causing part of the skirt to get stripped).

Well you can buy another mag or send it to Crosman and get a new one

Call PA and speak to one of their techs...They are an authorized service center and they sold it to you.  They will make it right I'm sure.  They've always come through for me.  My fingers tend to break and ruin stuff, so I'm not big on taking stuff apart and trying to fix it.  Some ( lots) of the guys on here are very good at that sort of thing though and can offer good advice on how to fix it yourself...Mine is simply to call PA if you bought it from them...

Brother, that marauder ain't working right and when you get it working right or get one that does, you won't be frustrated any more!

Maybe you should have kept the npss.......?
You always want to keep a backup gun for when your main rifle is shooting like crud.
Now it looks like you will have to send the mrod back.

Agree with spysir...Loose mag is usually caused by the barrel not being as far into the receiver as it could be...just a "hair", but enough to cause blow by and wasted air (as well as that jiggling magazine).

Air use does not always indicate faster speeds...some of that extra air may not be being used to drive the pellet, arriving too late to do any real good. Without a chronograph, its pretty hard to tell, but it could be that tuning the gun down a little may not reduce velocity at all (but save enough air for another couple of good shots).

If it's a new rifle I'd call P.A. and speak to them about it.  They may have you send it back and they'll replace or they'll help you in figuring out the problem.  Either way I'd contact P.A. before I did anything.  They've always been great with me when it came to problems with their products.

Yeah thanks guys -- I was just venting after spending all that money.  I'll call PA.  I really WISH I could have kept the npss, but the wife wasn't havin it.

Sounds like the adjustments are incorrect.... If you don't have a Chrony, don't mess with it.... just return it with an explanation of the problem (too few shots, excess air use).... and don't forget to mention you didn't mess with it, that it came that way....

The only other alternative would be to find out what the FACTORY settings are (ask here in the forum) and set yours that way and try it before returning it.... Since the adjustments are talked about in the manual it's not like you took the gun apart and voided the warranty....

My factory settings were:
Hammer Stroke was full out CCW
Hammer Spring was in 3.5 turns CW.
Transfer port was out 3 turns from full in.

If it was me id be tearing down the shroud and breech then putting the barrel the way its supposed to be. It sounds to me that ur mrod is currently setup to be a power house of a rifle and id keep it just like that.. if you were worried about shot count maybe looking into a 22mrod would have been a better choice.. but a 25 sure does sound nice when it hits its target


Fyi pcp's esp the disco and id assume the mrod are a breeze to work on.. if you don't have to spend anything outta pocket to get the mrod shooting better then fix it ur self. Can't be a racer car driver if every time ur car breaks you take it to midas to get fixed. Just go slow and remeber how things where when you took them apart. There are exploded views to help put it back together as well as this forum.. just make a post and throw in a picture or 2

You will get it sorted out, might have to send it back, or talk with someone, or have some one on here help you, takes time, even with a new airgun. I had to send back my first CZ and was very disappointed, but things are getting better now, got a new one and we are getting to know each other. Best luck to you.

nice!  400 or 500? several on here have 400's that shoot really well. i really like my mrod too but those fx are very nice. 1 advantage ag's have over women. you can have both with out the other being jealous but the misses is another story.
