Should you store the rifle with the barrel pointed down?
What should you lube?
Other than the barrel what needs to be cleaned?

The storage position depends on the rifle.
MOST gas spring rifles are built with the rod towards the breech.
Those should be stored muzzle down in order for the internal lube to pool at the gland end.
There ARE those in which the rod points to the breech.....rhose get stored butt down.
What rifle do you have or are you looking to purchase?

I would recommend lubing the pivot points and the piston where the cocking link rides.
Other than that, dunno....trigger maybe???

Besides the bore, just give the metal a good wipe down with Barricade or other protectant.

I've been typing real slow with a few distractions, Ronno6 covered the basics, here's my reply:

1. What model gun do you have? Some models have an inverted ram set up, which you may want to store muzzle up (Umarex reaxis or Crosman NP2/Elite to name two). Personally, I've stored all my gas rams muzzle up, although it could lead to potential problems. I do believe storing in cold temps plays a role in some rams going flat, possibly more than storing up, down or sideways... Avoid storing for long periods, at least every six months give the gun a workout (shoot it some) to spread the lubes around within the ram and it should last a long while.

2. You don't necessarily have to lube anything, aside from possibly pivot points or barrel latching detent ball or chisel every once in a great while. Check user manual also, to see if there are any care instructions. Otherwise do as you do with your springers, minus any spring care.

3. Not much requires cleaning, maybe wipe down exterior metal with lube of choice (Ballistol, Remoil, etc.) after use. Occasionally pull the action from the stock and wipe down areas not accessible when stock is mounted.

4. Yes! Lions, always look out for lions! ...and tigers and bears. Or just anything that could call you lunch, or is venomous
Ok, pertaining to gas rams, nothing really. If you go to break the barrel and there's no resistance, you need a new ram, or a rebuild if it's certain models than can be rebuilt.

Gas ram guns are essentially care free until they go flat. Shoot safe and enjoy.

The only moving part in the power unit is the rod.....there is NO piston,
So, you want the lube to pool where the rod exits the ram body....
You will probably want to store it muzzle end down....

Don't worry about it. Treat it just as you do a coil spring. It doesn't matter how you store it. Just shoot it!!!

Thank's Ken, a lot of mixed opinions on how to store it. AOA rep told me he never heard of storing it muzzle down or up. I'm just going to store it flat in a hard case, whatever liquid is in the piston I would think would spread evenly? Like I said 1st gas ram question.
