You're asking opinions. I prefer Maccari (Air Rifle Headquarters) seals over Vortex. If you're asking about a spring kit I prefer Maccari with their internal spring guide to Vortex with the external guide. That is a personal opinion but you'll surely get more.
I think we should address the root of your question 'is the upgrade worth it' ? What do you expect to get out of it? Are you happy with your gun now? I've never had a vortek kit, but have purchased many maccari kits including one for an R7, it currently shoots just about right at 8 ft lbs.
So far in this thread there are 2 guys recommending Vortek seals and one for ARH. Obviously there will never be agreement. I'm just glad we have 2 choices. I have done business with both products and owners and have found both guys to be excellent businessmen. Since I can't decide, I alternate purchases so both guys get some profit and continue to please us hobbyist consumers.Merry Christmas
I also am a Aussie seal fan along with ARH springs. I use them in many ( 5 ) HW/Beeman rifles and Beeman P1 pistol.Ebay and Website for Aussie ( Custom Air Seals )https://www.ebay.com/itm/163421741196https://www.customairseals.com/
Gary, Just my experience, I usually equate the Vortek kits as a power and velocity “upgrade” for springers, but this is not always the case. The JM kits seem to hover closer to the original OEM power ranges as designed for by the manufacturer. As stated by another poster, it depends on what you are looking to do with your gun. More information would be helpful in offering you more informed options. I would not recommend a Vortek spring with a straight drop in JM seal from my experience. Best to ‘fit’ an OS seal in this case should you choose to try that route. The Vortek seals are very durable. Have you tried the TitanXS mainsprings? Some folks including myself have had very good results with them.
It's time to have my R7 resealed....is the Vortex up grade worthwhile? Thanks
