Gamo CFX Underlever $140.

Gamo USA has holiday surprise air rifles again!
This year it is the really accurate but slow-footed Gamo CFX for $140.
For those not in the know, it is a fixed barrel copy of an old bsa springer and has a rotating breech.
I have both .177 and .22. Both are very accurate and not hold sensitive.
The downside is the loading process is slow and involved, and the design limits power to 15ish ftlbs in .22 and 13ish in .177.
Still a joy to shoot and did I mention accurate, ha ha.

I actually ordered one of these. But i am confused as to what i am getting considering i couldnt find the CFX for sale anywhere and am wondering if this is an unsold older gun or a revival of the CFX. $149 with a 10%- discount is a great deal for a laser of a airgun.

I guess you'll have to wait and see what you get.  When I started looking at them in 2013 or so the CFX was being replaced (I believe) by the CFR.  The CFX continued to sell overseas but stateside the CFR was offered.  I didn't like the plastic stock and ended up "settling" for a used Air Arms TX 200 for a bit more money.  Each of the three has its pros and cons I'm sure.  Gamo does have the reputation for being hard to get parts.  If you get a good one you'll probably love it for a long time.  If you get a bad one don't be shy about a warranty repair or exchange.  Gamo has a good reputation for taking care of their customers.

I have all three, the CFX, CFR, & Accu. Best gun Gamo ever produced and better than many competitors. If you can get a new CFX for under $150 jump on it.
In .22 expect speeds in the 650 fps range, 850-900 fps for .177. The long transfer port lowers .22 speeds but not accuracy.
Anticipate having to go through the gun, deburr and smooth all edges that very well could have damaged the o'ring on the rotary seal. Aftermarket CDT trigger for CFX does wonders. Later CFR and Accu oem SAT/CAT triggers can be modified enough for smooth firing. The GRT IV trigger is also available for the CFR/Accu.
Parts for the CFX can usually be obtained from the UK as I recall.
Don't want to accidentally dry fire this gun, the rotary breech will eventually frown upon it.

Please post your findings with the CFX. I have an older .177 cal and still enjoy shooting it. I may jump on this in .22 cal with your evaluation.

I had a CFX years ago. Never cared for the breach. Sold it to a bud who's a Gamo guy. Seems he installed a GRT trigger in it for me before I sold it to him.

I bought a CFX in ,177 and .22 years ago when they first came out.  Both of those rifles to this day shoot like a darn laser.  I don't shoot them as much as I should, thanks to this thread I'm gonna take em hunting on my next outings

Ive had a bunch of springers and my favorites are this lube tuned storm xt which sadly broke a spring, and a tuned XS46U from flying dragon. Love the XS but its heavy, awkward to carry while hunting squirrel. Hoping that the cfx might be a bit lighter but still accurate.

Ill probably put up something in the Gamo gate when i finally get the gun and shoot it some. This ones in .22 so i guess i got lucky? I normally shoot .177 most of the time. It seems like it has a standard trigger too, so if i can somehow get one of those replacement triggers then i will.

I agree the Crosman Storm as well as it's sister, Opitmus/G1 Extreme/Fury/Rem. Summit/etc. are great guns. I have 6 or 7, all .177 springer, all in wood Cx or Summit stocks with GRTtriggers or RC rooler bearing mods. All shoot great some excellet, all about 750-850 fps. If I had bought a few of these when I started this addiction I probably would have all these other guns especially the high dollar ones.

I had the Browing version of the 46. Never warmed up to the looks. Didn't like the trigger. Same basic trigger as my two Tech Force 99's, crude. But too me the 99 is a more classic look. Tech force had another under lever like the 99 with the much better TF89 trigger. Never could find one.

Beside the breach on the CFX I didn't like the front stock screws under those gray hard to remove panels. Bud I sold it to got rid of them. A GRT trigger will make any good gun a great gun.

I have a BSA with that rotating breech. It is accurate (.177) and has a beautiful wood stock. Can these guns uncock ? The .22 Gamo is cheap !
