Diana 54 will not cock?

Hi , Need some help.
My Diana 54 will not lock up when  attempting to cock the gun? The cocking leaver goes through the full range  forcing the action to the forward position but the piston  stem will not connect to trigger sear ( think that’s the term)? Instead of locking in, it slides forward under full spring pressure and hooks up on to the first notch of the bear trap. I then under spring pressure, return the cocking arm to starting position. Before it completely stopped working, I noticed that when cocking the full range then locking the piston stem I had to  slightly haul on the cocking arm to release the bear trap. Then  the piston stem would not connect. Never had this happen to any of my springers. I increased  the trigger pull  weight thinking it had somehow become to loose but no difference. I I haven’t broken the gun down yet because I’m not even sure what I’m looking for? The gun is relatively  new and has a Vortek PG 4 tune kid installed. It almost seems to me that the stem broke off or maybe the top of the spring broke. I’ve had so many problems with this gun this is just one more thing to dishearten me. Is it possible something let’ go inside the trigger? That is something I would really not be excited about trying to take apart and figure out.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate .

The front two screws adjust the two stages of trigger pull.  Try backing them out about two full turns each.  If that works for you we can then move on to adjusting the trigger.  This has nothing to do with difficulty of pull - the third screw.

There’s also the fact you’re running an after market kit. Who installed it? Might have to look at that if adjusting trigger doesn’t work.

Did the work gun after the kit was installed? if not? theirs 2 things that come to mind here, 1 if the sliding safety transfer bar in the trigger unit got bumped out of alignment when reinstalling the trigger pins? this will not allow the piston stem to engage the sear, you can usually tell by the safety, it will not slide back and forth smoothly, 2 also spacing in the piston, if it's too much it will cause the spring to stack up and make the piston travel to short,

Thanks all for your valuable suggestions.
Al's piston's stem came undone from the piston's head.
Piston's stem HAD latched, but body of piston was not held back by stem.
Nothing wrong with tune (spring, guide, TopHat), or trigger.

EMails have gone out to BLS to see if they do the right thing and forward a replacement piston, as it is CLEARLY a manufacture defect.

i disassembled gun this morning, not find any error on piston.nothing is broken.  i think maybe is t06 problem.

You may wish to see how the T06 goes together https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=t06+disassembly    It's also possible backing out your trigger adjustment screws a bit will be enough to permit the sear to latch.

In THIS case, the piston became a "stemless" piston. It is very clear/plain to see the problem if you disassemble the gun.
It ids NOT a T06 problem it is a piston manufacturing method that has not aged properly.
The Technical CEO of DIANA has been made aware of this.

If you post pictures of your piston with details of the stem, we can help you decide if you need a new piston.

Roadworthy is right on, many times, it's the user that "adjusts" too much the trigger weight/release screws and prevents the trigger sear from latching.

Start with whatever is easiest first at this point:
take pictures of the piston and stem
try to test the piston by latching onto the trigger OUTSIDE the gun
let us know how it goes.

I try with screw on triger. Not work. I try cock outside not work. It seem to me that is problem in t06. As you can see in picture i think somethingnis broken here

Unfortunately, by disassembling and re-assembling the rifle without the use of dumb-pins you have bent the safety pawl return spring and also the cocking plate carrier/safety button has also suffered.

It is a common mistake but sadly a somewhat problematic one.

You need to contact your local DIANA dealer/importer and request :
