I was wondering if anyone knew whether the GX PUMP E-L2 Portable 18V Cordless PCP Air Compressor came with a battery charger?

According to the GX website it does. Apparently the adapter to run the compressor from 110v is sold separately.

I just got one of these compressors.  The battery charger, how long does it take to charge the battery the first time?  Does the red light blink, or just stay steady on during charging?  I've been on charge about an hour and all I get is a red led.  Is that normal?

Do you know what other battery packs could fit this?  Looks like a 18V 2.8AH battery would work, if it would fit.

Is it a GX or the Omega version ? I use 5ah Makita batteries off Amazon but the GX charger won’t work with Makita batteries so you need a charger too the original is a 7ah I think

Oh ok I’m not too sure then best thing is contacting the seller they’re really good at customer service. The battery is a Makita style

Battery charged in about 2 hours.  Fired it up into the dead head, pressure climbed quickly.  The manual says it should hold air at least a half an hour.  Nope, seem to have a slow leak, down 3000 in about 15 minutes. Tried soapy water, didn't see anything that looked like a leak.  Tried the hose connections, nada.  I'll play with this a little later.

That's crazy if they now say to keep it under pressure after you shut it off! Maybe for a few seconds to listen for leaks, but that's it.

In normal filling you should open the bleed valve before shutting it off. Don't start it under load either.

Yeah maybe I missed it but I didn’t see that in my instructions. I agree, just a few seconds is all that matters anyway it’s not an air tank to need to hold indefinitely

Well, thanks for the warnings.  Hope I haven't messed it up after only a day!  As I recall, it said it should hold air for 5 minutes, not 15.  But the brochure did say that it should be checked especially after receiving the pump.  They explained the pump could have been bumped in shipping and could have a small leak. 

I only did the leak down test once and was able to pump up the Prod afterwards.  Live and learn I guess.  Keep me on the straight path...  I'd like this pump to last a little while.

My Quincy shop compressor, 60 gallon, is left with a full tank of 175psi air all the time.  It doesn't care. 

Guess these HPA compressors are delicate flowers .  Most likely it's what one would expect at the price point.  This unit wasn't super expensive.

But the Quincy runs when ever needed day and night with flow rates that I'm sure far exceed the little one.  Different animals to be sure.

Have always started the little one with the bleeder open.  I'll make sure I'll open it at the end of the run.  Just a new procedure to get used to...  I'll get the hang of it.
