Didn't need it but had to have one, so finally got the Mod 95 when it came on sale ($116 with MA tax). As expected it has its share of gritty joints and trigger that should work it self out with time (have never tried going inside the guns). The wood looks good and after about smoking 20 shots which grouped 1/2 to 1 inch at 10 yards with open sights, now i'm hitting my crosman spinner at 25 yards almost every time (all offhand).
Only thing that bother me at this point is that the gun cocks with two distinct clicks, the first one does not lock the barrel and need to go all the way for that second click. Is this something that will change with time (do not experience it on my Edge) At this point this is the only gun that i would not feel comfortable loading without holding the barrel. And yes , here is how it looks !!

Nice! When they went on sale they became a super deal. It's a lot of gun for that kind of cheap money. Shoot it as is for a while and let it creak and ping. Unless you hear obvious mechanical noise from interference you should be fine. Keep an eye on the screws and pins. They can be turned into very good shooting guns, but a trigger job is mandatory. Enjoy!!

Mod95 coil spring or Vortex air spring?

Sounds like coil spring. It can smooth out over time but the coil spring model really needs a longer custom fit spring guide. It is not a novice project but it makes a big difference.

The 'two clicks"  during cocking may be the Quattro trigger. It is DIFFERENT than the simple Edge trigger.

I can feel two clicks on other riles from the anti-bear-trap-link or autosafety-set. I am indifferent to it. However, I learned early in my springer education to always ALWAYS  hold the barrel during the entire cocking-loading-barrelreturn process.

99.99% of the time you can risk NOT holding the barrel. You just never know when that 0.01% SURPRISE will occur to mash/amputate fingers and/or bend barrels.

Your accuracy is consistent with my experience. Sub 1/2"  10-shot groups using open sites are typical for my rifles. I think you have a keeper with potential to be even better :-)

Thanks everyone for you kind thoughts. May be it came out wrong, I totally agree and abide by “hold the barrel” rule . It’s just that for this one I’m scared to let it go. Its probably from my experience with the RWS/ Diana fixed barrels which locks the anti-bear on first click and catches the piston on subsequent clicks.
I have gone thru several documentation and videos of trigger enhancements , but never dared to open any of my guns. May be some day.

Agree wholeheartedly with that "super deal" statement. At that price ($116 OTD!) , hard to go wrong. Re the "trigger job", maybe just a trigger adjustment will suffice? My 95 Vortex's Quattro trigger was absolutely terrible right out of the box, I could NOT abide the crazy long "creep" in the 2nd stage. That trigger pretty much made it impossible to shoot offhand accurately. "Fixed" it with a slightly longer adjustment screw, this removed a goodly amount of that creep and made the rifle much more pleasant to shoot. Be advised you can get carried away with this adjustment, and end up with an unsafe trigger/rifle. The screw I used for 2nd stage adjustment has been custom-ground to length, and is "bottomed out" to preclude any further adjustment. The idea here is DON'T get too "greedy" and be satisfied with SOME improvement of the Quattro trigger's 2nd stage travel. Going further, I would say don't do it at all unless you know what you are doing! While I am satisfied my trigger is safe as currently adjusted, if I ever DO sell my 95, I will re-install the factory adjustment adjustment screw to return the trigger to "stock" configuration.
