Anyone spray painted their FX Crown? I did...

I am curious to see if anyone had spray painted their airguns, in particular, their synthetic FX Crown.  I did just that after watching many YouTube videos as of late and I decided to go ahead to customize my boring black Crown.

You are a smart gent but I would not have done that at all. I am okay myself with painting the stocks and using camo tape elsewhere but getting that Krylon goo off the rifle later when that tan and green becomes boring is going to be a huge mess.

This stuff here will make your efforts forever, impervious to solvent, normal wear and handling:



The Spraymax is a two part catalyzed paint and requires a fresh air source (or you can practice holding your breath), do not breath the fumes as they contain isocyntes. There is an inner can which is punctured using a button and then shake and allow to dwell, up to 48 hours pot life. No single part so called 2K can equal the real thing and the Spraymax 2K is the real deal in an unique rattle can product.

@3crows.  Thank you for the suggestion.  When I decided to spray paint my Crown, I was already prepared for the wear and tear of the new paint.  This is something that is inevitable.  I can always touch it up or repaint it in the future.  My guns are my tools and of course I will take good care of them when out in the field.  They are meant to be used and not behind glass display cabinet.

Nice job, turned out great.
I've done a few but nothing with the value of that gun. Matter of fact, I don't even own a gun of that value.
I've also only done the wood and not the entire gun and scope.
There is something about throwing caution to the wind and just going for it.

Looks great! I agree that a little wear will up the cool factor as well. I've never painted an ag but have wrapped several. Here's one of them.

It looks really good, Max.  All of mine are black on black on black.  This is what I wanted.  It could be scary fun to attempt this, but I wouldn't want to mess up the black theme I have going.  Mine are more about function than looks.

I have done some hydro dipping. Mostly motorcycle stuff. But there are many films with camo patters that would be perfect for a rifle stock or individual gun parts. I have also floated Krylon on water and dipped into it with good results. The issue with guns is all of the silicone, grease, oils and such that make getting a good adherence to the substrate difficult. And removing them, silicone in particular, is not easy. And air rifles are covered in silicone.

Mr. Plinks rifle looks good, it is unique  .

@bear air.  Thanks.  I used to wrap the camo tapes on my rifles but I wanted to do something unique to my Crown.  I think some wear and tear will add some characteristic as well.

@triggertreat.  Yes, black looks good as well.  Something different I guess and I am very pleased with my Crown.  Will see how I feel after some extensive use.

@3crows.  lots of different ways to do, just have to find the one that is easy and make sense I guess.

 Closest I have gotten is camo duct tape on my Air Force Escape UL. I did buy the stuff to do a hydro dip, have not gotten to it yet, as prep work is the same or greater than spray painting.

Hydro-dipping usually requires a base (primer) coat and a color coat or you can use this stuff. It is excellent:

Especially good for plastics and is the primer and color coat in one. It is an excellent product.
