Question re. Diana 350 Magnum piston latch rod

Is the latch rod supposed to be removeable from the piston? I don't think it does but I wanna be sure .

A friend sent me his 350 trigger unit for tuning, along with the latch rod and spring guide (without the actual piston body), as he thought there could be an issue with them. No visible issue with these parts that I can see, but I don't think the rod should have been removed from the piston head. What say you?

It should be attached to the piston, as far as I know.

If you need, I have an old B28 piston that should work if that can’t be fixed.

No, the latch rod should not be removed. But I have no direct experience over the correctability of such a deed.

Have not tried to take one apart but I believe the piston rod is inserted into the piston head and the head is swaged or crimped to hold the rod.
Then the piston body is swaged or crimped onto the piston head. Three separate pieces that are factory assembled to not normally come apart.

late edit: I have a 20 ton Harbor Freight hydraulic press. Not certain that is enough force but it should be possible to make a couple steel dies that would "re-crimp" parts like these back together.

This is the T05 version.

Pretty much what I thought, thanks alot guys! I'll speak to my friend to see what he wants to do with that. The way I see it he'll have to either repair or replace the piston.

This is clearly a defective part.
Write to DIANA through the website.
Quote the serial number, the date purchased, the store/retailer purchased.
Give details or send a picture.
Ask for a replacement and give your address.
Tell them that, give the confusion about wholesalers' responsibilities you have to go to them directly.

DIANA should send you a replacement.
