I don't know if any of you other members are in the path of hurricane Earl but here on east end of Long Island we're supposed to get a "glancing blow". I spent the last 2 days getting all my emergency gear accounted for and ready to go and stocked up on all the necessities. Generator is ready to fire up and I have a weeks worth of gas stored in the shed so if we lose power, which happens all the time by me, we'll still have the benefit of electricity. I just finished battening down the hatches here on the home front so we're about as ready as we're gonna be. The only thing I couldn't get done was to get my boat out of the water but the marina is fairly well protected so I'm hoping it will be ok. It's been through this before and faired well so I'm hoping it will still be afloat tomorrow morning. If it sinks I guess I'll just have to call the insurance company and tell em to send me a check (oh boy, more air gun money). Well, to those of you who may also be in harms way stay hunkered down and here's to hoping you, and I, fair this storm well.

You might want to use a couple of wind flags, baby!
Seriously, hope you weather the storm OK.

Well Jeff,
As a Survivalist you can bet that I'm prepared for every situation !
It looks good for me inland some 60 miles, but only GOD knows when a storm will change course !
I checked our survival stores, and batten down anything that could fly around the property, and could cause damage, so everything here is as good as I can make it !
I PRAY for safe passage of this hurricane for ALL of our our GTA Family !!!!
I believe that if I do my part and PRAY HARD !!!!! GOD will help us the rest of the way !!!!
PRAY HARD and be safe, ALL YOU AirGunners !

Funny that you mention the nutters because they are out in force in the neighborhood running around gathering up acorns at a frenzied pace. I always see nutters in the neighborhood but not this many. I think they know the big blow is coming and they're stocking up

Hang tight coasters. Looks like the eye is gonna pass East of everyone and Earl is now a cat 1. Wind speeds a mere 74-96mph. Heh. Like Bill, I'm about 70 miles inland. Not to worried bout myself, but I got family in both RI and on Cape Cod.
Jeff, my Mom was telling me that the birds on the Cape have been no where to be seen. Them animals sure know things.
Best of luck to all! Hope ya won't need it.

4:09 pm and so far everything is pretty calm. Very little rain and just slight winds, maybe we're gonna luck out on this one
I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

I've sat through 2 hurricanes that where direct hits. During the 2nd one, I promised God that I would change my ways if I survived. It must have been a good deal because I am still here. I will never ride out a major hurricane again. They do not even need to tell me to leave because I am already gone.
Good luck, hope the damage is minimal.
Bogey.

Ok, it's 6:12 now and the rain and wind have finally started to hit us. On and off heavy down pours of rain and wind picking up steadily. Just checked the radar and sure enough the bands of wind and rain are showing right on top of us.

I have only received a few drops of rain, and mild breezes. And we can certainly use the rain here !
It looks like New Jerkey has scared off Earl, as it does to so many visitors that come through here
We even have tree rats running around as usual, no cares or worries.
Thank GOD we missed this one !!!!!

8:34 now and while the wind isn't all that bad we have so much rain coming down that the only thing missing is a big boat filled with 2 of every kind of critter

Well, the storm has finally passed us and we fared very well. An awful lot of rain but no wind damage and I just got back from checking on my boat at the marina and she's floating just fine
