13xx pump housing/tube pressure question
«

It seems like the pump/valve tube must have a pressure rating, because it holds the air at increasing pressures as its forced through the check valve and into the valve body. Can anyone confirm that or know what pressure it can safely contain?
Thanks

There's no telling where the tubes are being made now or out of what material. I put a gauge on mine ( early model) and typically pumped to 2200psi. hth

Please do take into account that on the 13xx series the check valve and poppet retain the air in the valve. So you only have the tube retaining the air long enough to get it into the valve; and, the held air in the valve, is also secured by that outter tube, so the 'wall strength' for that particular pressure is more or less shared. Not sure I would be comfortable converting a 13xx into a PCP based on that information alone, and would probably upgrade to a 4130 Cromo tube if I were thinking about possibly going PCP with this, or even upping the pressure pumping. Just saying, better safe than sorry when dealing with unknown quantities.

Thanks, Luge. I wasn't planning on using it as a pressure vessel/Hi-Pac. I've just read a number of Bob Stearne's threads on pumper builds and the tubes he has used/substituted. Realizing that it must see momentary, increasing pressure spikes, I figured that it must be rated for something and had never seen that number in my reading.
