That’s because there’s this one guy who bought up what was supposed to be the entire country’s 2 year supply. Now they’re scrambling to catch up. I ain’t naming names though

I've been shooting Weihrauchs for decades (HW35,HW77,HW95 & rebadged Beeman R9 and R10) almost from "day one" a few decades ago and I've been impressed that HW has made the effort to improve their springers and address some of the shortcomings of earlier offerings.

For example.
1- Earlier HW95s receivers were "hand honed" and on occasion the "honer" fell asleep with the hone at the "closed end" causing receiver tube ID enlargement at the transfer port. The last HW95 I bought a few years ago had a very nicely finished ID and not the "honing scratches" of my previous R9s.
Latest untouched HW 95 receiver ID "straight from the box" (after stripping to replace the factory "dinosaur oil based grease" with non dieseling Krytox) compared to my older Beeman R9........


2- The piston seals were redesigned over the years with the performance of the later "thick sealing edge style" almost matching the performance of the oring sealed piston caps I made for personal use........


3- Redesign of the cocking shoe to ride the edges of the cocking shoe slot instead of being supported by a thin piston liner and I had received older HWs with dented piston liners when I used to tune the things..........

4- The fixes barrel latching "chisel" was replaced by a bolt on bracket. My brother had an old Beeman R9 and there was a sharp burr on the spring loaded half of the "chisel" that literally "cut away" the surface of the other "chisel half" that was pressed into the receiver. This issue was solved by Beeman customer support by replacing the receiver tube after a 6 month wait. I stoned the "offending sharp edge chisel" removing the sharp edges, relubed and reassembled and there was no further issue for the following years........

5- The old HW95/R9/R10 front stock mounting screw tabs had occasional issues with screw thread stripping with some guns I received for repair. The threads of the newer design "bolt on bracket" tabs are considerably thicker than the older "weld on tabs" plus the bracket seems to be harder. I've never needed to "fix" stripped threads of the newer........

Ed, I too have noticed subtle changes to the R1’s I have worked on. Glad Weihrauch has made the effort for continuous improvement. Now that the plandemic is dying off, maybe they can get caught back up with normal production.

I really don't but both my HW95 and older Beeman R9 have the "bolt on barrel latching bracket. I uploaded pisc of the HW95 to a photo hosting site and the date of the uploaded pics was July 2020......

I bought the HW95 a few years ago from AOA when they were running a "HW95 sale for $295+ shipping". After ordering I got an email from AOA stating that the gun was out of stock and gave me the option to either receive a refund or wait a couple months for the next shipment. I opted to wait till the guns were in stock and about a month later the HW95 was shipped to me and AOA didn't charge to my CC till it was shipped.
As mentioned, my Beeman R9 is older than the HW95 and my Beeman R9 arrived without barrel pivot block holes for iron sight mounting........


I actually ordered the HW95 because at $295-shipping I thought that it could be a "parts gun" for the R9 if needed. When I received the gun and stripped it down for relubing with Krytox I saw that the receiver tube interior finish was excellent (much better than the older R9). This HW95 had excellent "fit & finish" and accuracy so it became my "go to springer". The R9 also was a "loaner" for friends who attended a couple field target matches with me.

Which "nuts" are you referring to? If you're referring to the the "press in nuts" inside the barrel pivot block fork they weren't "factory supplied". They were added by myself to repair stripped threads in the factory welded on tabs. The later HWs have the bolt on "barrel latching bracket". Only one hex socket bolt securing this bracket and so far I've never needed to replace this bracket on either the HW95 or Beeman R9. "Just for grinns" I removed and reinstalled this bracket from my R9 and was kinda surprised to the extent HW went when securing it to the receiver tube. Not only was the "bracket" secured with a socket head bolt, the "bracket was also secured in position with a very precise tight fitting dovetail that required some tapping with a small plastic tipped hammer to remove and replace after removing the hex socket screw...........

Other than the HW55 or FWB124, today's Springer airguns are about as good as it gets .

Prices maybe up about $100/$150 from 5 years ago, but historically Springers are a very good value when compared to prices in the 1970's or 1980's when inflation is factored in.
Plus Springers will last more than 1 lifetime given reasonable maintenance.  PCP's on the other hand will most likely be in the garbage bin unless rigorously maintained .

In the next 10 years getting parts on many popular PCP's will be almost impossible.  The good German, British Springers and parts for have been around for 25/50+ years and should remain plentiful .

I also think AOA is using their Business Clout (longtime Weihrauch Distributor) to complain that Krale was undercutting their sales in the USA .

I had meant to remark that Krale's savings seem to have significantly diminished, I had wondered if that was due to the EU suffering higher inflation than the U.S.. Used to be able to save 100-150 a gun compared to AoA. Now for some models, they're near even in cost after shipping charges. Then again Krale will still get a gun to my door in 2 days from the Netherlands compared to AoA taking a week+ and Krale's customer service is far more responsive. So its still Krale for me.
