Do web developers think this tactic of full screen cancerous pop ups are effective ? I notice it most in the AGD/Pyramid sites. I forget sometimes and open up the Pyramyd Air website and am immediately reminded why I don't shop there. Am I alone in thinking this is terrible marketing ?

No one likes pop ups. Personally, it’s a negative & doesn’t persuade me into buying.

Negative advertising:  What about hitting the TV viewers with the exact same commercial two times back to back? 
And what about all the dancing that goes on in many commercials?
Not enough cute animals [puppies] and beautiful babies!
Sorry Nissan - Your commercials with the actors speaking over the background noise/music and talking faster than the car is able to go really cause me to change channels.
When I watch videos, there are the six-second and 15-second ads that I can "SKIP".  The pop up and almost demand that I watch.  I DON'T watch!


I am sure there is something I am missing - Help me out!

I haven't had any problems with that but I use duckduckgo browser on my phone and it blocks all of that.

i hate them.  can't tell you how many times i'm typing in the search window what i'm looking for and a pop up stops me.  also, i've found using the search feature on a lot of sites is futile.  they want you to go through their menu so you have to look at all their merch.  i've been looking for a sailboat and i can put all the info in the advance search on yachtworld and not find what i'm looking for.  i enter it in my search engine and bingo!  there it is on yachtworld.

They’re everywhere, annoy the you know what out of me. They always pop at the worst time .PA if you’re reading this please stop them, we buy stuff regardless of dumb pop ups we’re addicted.

My Brave browser blocks all pop ups. Matter of fact, I had to manually allow pop ups on the GTA to get PM notifications.

 I do get their signup for discount popup, and they guy who most likely knows as much as I do , offering to help popup.
 I just blow them off and go to the page I am searching for in the first place.
I did chat with one of them years ago, and they helped me discover I already had 3 guns that would work fine for my needs

Pishhhhhhhhhh  have a look in my junk email box. I get more than 50 per day and put a permanent block on them every single time. They change one character and keep on coming. I get 4 or 5 pieces of junk in our snail mail box each day. I don't mind that as much because we use it to start our campfires.

Yep! Linux+firefox+add blockers work well for me. My favorite add blocker is uBlock Origin however there are many blockers to use depending on your setup.
