Dang Manny, I would guess that you get one heck of a workout pumping up the big bores! What kind of pump do you use, or do you mean a HP compressor? Thanks Brian, I appreciate the info this would be my first PCP so other than reading posts and such I am very green with that side of AGs. So if your gun holds 3000 psi you would need a tank that has more than 3000 psi to fill it right? After the first fill you would not get any subsequent full fills if you had a 3000psi tank, right?

Actually it isn't all that bad, more on the tedious side since you have to pump slowly.

I have 7 pumps, Hills, Axors and G4s, I rotate them so they never really get hot and I can keep filling without having to wait for them to cool down

Travis, not exactly, you want high-pressure and a lot of volume. Pressure is the force or expansion potential of the air or gas, it is related to volume based on the cylinder size but, 1 cubic foot of air at 3500 psi is the same pressure as 100 cubic feet at 3500 psi. So, imagine the typical 100 cubic foot tank, it's volume in cubic dimensions is not 100 cubic foot (physical) it's volume is defined by the amount of air (100 cubic feet) that can be compressed into it at 3500 psi. Like stuffing a pound of hamburger into a container that will only hold 1/4 pound of water, water won't compress, hamburger will.

OK, there is a lot more physics at play here but that would take two forums to engage in, suffice to say, you want the highest pressure (4000 psi max) with the greatest volume you can tote around or physically manage.

Travis, ever try to walk in a wind storm with an empty trash can, into the wind? (you know after leaf raking etc)

Ever wonder why that empty can has so much resistance in the wind? Yes, some of it is wind velocity but, much of it is the weight of AIR filling the can. 1 cu ft of air (on average) weighs approximately 0.0807 lbs.

Thanks for the info and the link Brian, I will check that out. So Butcher had recommended the foster connect for the 909, is this the item in question? Since I am not up on all of the PCP\Big Bore verbiage as of yet I thought pictures might work better?

That should be the one, Foster Fittings are like the QD fitting on a compressor hose, these are 1/8" threads.

Thanks Brian! One other thing, after surfing around I noticed some performance numbers on the 909 and 909s, I did not realize that the 909s had better performance, than the 909 double. Sounds like with tuning it is even better, which sounds good for hunting! Things are starting to fall into place now

Next I just have to get the fill needs in order without breaking the bank..

hahaha, I had it in cart yesterday and ready to check out then figured I better wait until I get the method of fill figured out. So, I am trying not to PO the wife too much. Last fall I bought a new boat and a new AR15 and a Benji NPXL1100. So if I can fly it under the radar if I don't go crazy on filling it up with air i won't get yelled at too much..The gun is not an issue but some of the fill methods are more than the gun, so just trying to figure out what is a good cost effective way to go.

Start of with a Hill Pump, than if in the future you feel like going tanks you can and you can save slowly and don't need to rush it

Hi Manny, that might be the way that I go. I have a lead on a 4500 psi carbon tank so I will see if that pans out also. So let me pick your guys' brains on the 909 or 909s. The 909s holds less air but has more power and the 909 holds more air and less power right? Both guns are listed in the 700-750 range out of the box but I am seeing videos of guys saying they are tuning them to shoot much higher, is there anything notable about the tuning of these that I should know? I want high power for hunting but finding a middle ground for plinking would be nice also. I watched a video of a guy that had his 909 tuned and has 7 shots all over 800 fps and some over 900. So 7 shots seems like a lot of shots at those velocities, he was shooting a 141 grn ball I think and started at 2600psi? So if he is getting 800-900 fps for 7+ shots with the 909 that makes me question if that is a fluke and what way to go, 909 or 909s? What do you guys think? here is the video:

A tuned 2tube 909 is just the ticket for that application.

I only use my Big Bores for Hunting, so I want maximum possible power and really don't need more than 3 shots, that's why I bought the 909s version, if you're planning to do some plinking too than the 2 tube is a better choice.

The Tune don't just gives more power, but tightens up the shot to shot speed variation too

So on the 909 they say that you can cock it half way for medium power, would that not be sufficient for when you want to plink around? or is it too much of a drop to do the half cocked version? You would think having it tuned for max power then use half cock to mess around? Lastly, have you guys heard of anyone getting the speeds he was getting with the 909 or 909s? Those were the highest speeds I have seen.
