$1,500 - What rifle in .22 would you choose?

I have considered the Brocock Sniper XR Mag, seems really good(huma reg/LW barrel)but very long.  The regular XR is not enough fpe.

FX Dreamline Tac bottle seems good and more simple setup, but $200 more gets you the Maverick VP.  The Dreamline Classic, you have to remove the stock to make adjustments. 

99% sure I’m going with the Maverick VP in .22, can’t beat the FX warranty and parts availability.  Probably going to order from The Pellet Shop, but not sure if Utah Airguns is better to deal with or not.

Excellent choice of gun and dealer that’s where I got mine from. I’m going to be honest with you. The VP is great but you’ll probably want to upgrade the tank to a carbon fiber in the near future to have the 250 bar fill and higher volume of air it’s just a screw off and screw on thing. As I mentioned I have the VP in .30 but ended up getting the 580 cc carbon fiber now it looks great and gets a ton more shots. Buying from the Pellet Shop gets you a factory gun they don’t mess with the tune like other shops. You’ll love the Maverick.

I’ve noticed that too about a lot of FX guns recently but it’s worth the wait. Fx customer service is the best if you need it. They cover shipping to and from. My Maverick is stock I haven’t touched the tune and it’s perfect. What caliber are you thinking ?

Going .22 want to shoot the 18.1 for target and pesting 25.4 redesign.  It seems to have enough power to shoot even heavier .22 pellets, just not sure what would fit in the mag.

Text the pellet shop they’ll answer that but the gun has plenty of power for the 25.34 grain .22

Are they slug friendly? or easily made that way?

They're advertised at 30 ft/lbs. but have a power selector switch.
How much is the power reduced on the lowest setting?

The LW barrel is for pellets only and not sure about the power selector.  The regular XR is barely 30 ft lbs from what I have read.

Like the idea of easily selecting a power for the situation just not sure how much variation it would give me.
Ideally I'd like to go from 30 ft/lbs to the low teens. Over 20 ft/lbs on lowest setting I think would be a deal breaker.
Haven't found a reliable answer to that yet

I have a Brocock Ranger in .22. It’s not a 30 fpe gun but it does have the TP adjustment. I have found that it doesn’t make too much difference in fpe. Example is : Low is 640 fps or 14.4 ish fpe and high is 700 fps or roughly 17 fpe .

Wow... 60 fps?....that's hardly enough difference to make a difference. Well maybe at 600-700 fps it is but looking for considerably more selection than that.

The only gun I have that makes a huge difference just turning the TP adjuster is my Fx Dreamtact. Max is 16 fpe in .177 and low is 10fpe in .177.

A new Benjamin Cayden or used Air Arms S510 are good options also, if one wanted a more traditional rifle. Solid builds with no poi shifts on either in my experience. Very good accuracy with both within airgun ranges. Each make about 30fpe and have a transfer port dial for quick detunes. They work great with 18gr pellets, can't say about heavier. With the extra money left over you could potentially add a small bore cf pb to the collection, for those times when an AG isn't going to cut it. This is just the route I'd take, not necessarily what all may agree with.

Im looking in this range too and just put in an order for A Uragan 2 compact in .22. Dealer said I could expect ~880 with 18gr right out of the box. However I keep hearing from the few post or videos I can find online that its more like low 800 with 14/15 grain and dipping into high 700s with 18 and up. Anyone have experience on this? Im thinking about canceling the order before it gets too far in. high 800s with 18gr is right where Id like to be but I dont want to be tuning this one. This is for someone right out of the box and will be left that way.

How about a cricket carbine mini?
I am looking at a cricket and talking to Charlie at Georgia airguns. Super nice guy and helpful.

He has a cricket mini with his tune on sale for 1550 delivered. I am tempted but want a bullpup and its power level is 28-30 ftlbs.
Id like a bit more power.

But if i didn't want a bullpup and didn't want to shoot past 50 yds id probably look at getting it.

Nice looking, accurate,  quiet im told and good support from Charlie. Also being semi bullpup its not as long as a full on rifle.

Thats interesting lol. I was looking at that exact gun too and got quoted a little higher  . Did he mention like low 900s with 15 grain on power with the tune?

I thought spending half that on the TX200 was crazy too but it was worth it, after all it’s just a spring gun.  With your help and Fred J, I got that tuned in nicely!

For me I would rather have one good consistent/accurate rifle then 5 ok ones. I still think it’s a little much for just a air rifle but…

I know this is going to blow your mind but on my precision rifle rigs(firearm)I do use $3k optics, the effect of mirage at 600 yards plus and repeatability is where it pays off, that kind of glass for 100 yards and under is a no go.

Thanks to everyone that gave suggestions, it was fun to look at different options!

I went with the FX Maverick VP in .22 cal.  I ordered from SPAW because they could set it up for the FX/JSB 18.1 and 25.4 pellets, plus they actually had one in stock.
