Picked Up A Seneca Aspen Cheap

I purchased an "Untested" Seneca aspen........probably means "Doesn't work."
Should be interesting...I have not messed with one of these as yet.......

I am delaying shipment as i will be away til next Monday, so it will be a while for an update.

I received the "untested" Aspen  today.
To my surprise, the pump was free and the pump actually worked.
But.. (there's ALWAYS a "but") it is leaking...either out the gage port or the valve.
I have not as yet isolated the source.

ed....It appears to be coming from the gaga...I cannot detect any leakage out the breech.
Probably an O-ring ??

Probably out of the vent hole in the back of the gage. Make sure you keep that pump over oiled with silicone oil.

The leak 'pears to be coming out around the base of the air chamber tube.........now I just gotta figger out how to replace....

Be careful,as that tube has a pressurized pre charge chamber. The pre charge can be relieved from the muzzle end of the tube.

I would believe that to be the case.
I just gotta find the time and gumption to tear into it......

Pump function is also suspect.........it doesn't build much pressure, but I can't
tell anything til the leak is fixed.

If you're starting from empty, it'll take FOREVER  to build pressure.
To disassemble the pressure tube, remove the manometer, underneath you'll find a little flat bar. Remove it, under that is a pin. Push the pressure tube back to release the tension on that pin. Pull the pin with a small magnet. You can now slide the pressure tube out, without any further disassembly of the gun.
Be careful when you remove the tube. The poppet is directly behind it, will come flying out, if you're not careful.

Any idea on the size of the O-ring I'll need??

Is the poppet "behind" the tube towards the rear of the rifle?
Should I disassemble with rifle standing on its butt plate?

I have no idea of the proper size. It's a square seal. I used two thin orings,  liquid electrical tape to make up the difference.
Yes, the poppet is behind the tube. Just pull the tube out slowly. You'll be fine.

The sealing O-ring is a 14mm OD X 10mm ID
That's one I don't have, but McMaster does......
I'll receive them tomorrow.

The original O-ring just crumbled to pieces....way worst than a Hatsan Vortex rod O-ring !
Kinda makes me wonder about all the rest of the O-rings in the rifle......

Yessir. I verified with the calipers B-4 I ordered.....
Strangely enough, many O-rings used in the Aspen are 12mm OD X 2mm CS 90 durometer.....the same as used in Hatsan Vortex rod glands......

THAT leak is stopped..........
Now I gotta find the other(s)
Pumped up to 1000#, but leaked down over nite.......dunno how quickly.
I'll pressurize with the SCUBA setup and see how long to leak down.
I need a new batch of soapy water spray..

 There is a good possibility the poppet is leaking also, very common with these ATI branded guns.

O M G I'd be lovin' my old Aspen...but I don't have it anymore. I sold it to my buddy who uses it to keep rabbits out of his garden. Couldn't find any pellets that shot great out of it, and then just for the heck of it tried a heavy Eun Jin, and shot a 1" 5-shot group at 50 yds. My head about fell off. My buddy hasn't missed a rabbit head for 3 years with it out to 30ish yards.
