I'm too am looking forward to the off season casual matches. Hoping they start up again.  There are three of us from here (father, son and myself) that enjoy shooting and working to improve our shooting ability. 

Like others, I wish more folks would shoot. It doesn't hurt . . . . really!! Heck ya got two weeks to shoot a target and turn it in. Can't get simpler than that.

If you're reading this, you may have an interest in shooting. The casual match - there is no award. The award/ reward is you shooting against yourself. Improving your ability to shoot. I think I have four years in, and I've showed marked improvement from when I started. Last year was my best year. I showed improvement every year. Pretty simple. The support/ encouragement from other shooters is outstanding. No foul words just plain encouragement.

So, if you like to shoot, give it a go! You are shooting against yourself, so any pressure is self imposed.

 Craig PM'ed me out of curiosity being the previous Mod.... and one other member asked.
 But until now it seemed no one really cared.

I posted a question early on on what could be done to increase awareness.

Want to try again for the "Off Season Casual Matches" they seem to get more takers.

Well,  I asked you about it and nothing ever became of it.   I know it was a big disappointment for my Dad.  We very much would like to continue shooting matches and would love to see more competitors shooting.  For us it's all about competing against ourselves.  I'm looking forward to the winter 10 meter matches.

I printed out a bunch of casual match targets and casually began shooting them here and there at 10m and 50 ft.  I guess that's casual prep.

Since that was earlier this year, chances are I will post some mediocre casual scores this next time around. I mean, all the stuff is there... trap, print outs, guns. The only thing I gotta do is be casual about being publicly mediocre. Been practicin' for years!

Side note, similar facts regarding nuah except a significant exception, which is less easy access to 100 yd range. My next chance is a forecasted January hunt on my buddy's land.  Going for 100 in .177, but don't expect to make it to nuah... yet.

Good to hear! There's three of us up here in Pacific Northwest who are pleased to know we have a start date.

If you have an air rifle, I want to shoot and give it a go! You cannot get better if you don't do anything about shooting. I always liked to tell folks that I was teaching, nobody was born knowing how to do anything --- everybody has to start at the bottom and learn ... same thing here.

This is all about shooting against yourself. Nothing more nothing less.

I just want to thank you for posting PDFs of targets to print. I’m using one of the 5M pistol match targets to practice in a more disciplined and measurable fashion than the “just for fun” objects I often shoot. I’ll also be using a 10M rifle target to do the same with the rifle.

Though I’ve used paper bullseye targets for many months, I’m now picking just one of each distance/gun type to keep things more consistent. The matches were my kick in the pants to get a bit more formal.

And each session will end with reactive-target plinking as reward for “doing the homework first”!

Gonna try and get back into the game a bit. Is the 10m or 50ft offhand match opening up anytime soon?

I don't expect to do well , but do expect to have challenging fun [chuckling].
