Hold your head high, 880 shooters!

This is what can be accomplished with a Daisy 880 with nothing but a tape mod:

I kept shooting at farther distances and the groups did deteriorate because of the wind. 20 yards was almost as good except for a flyer that opened the group up to maybe .8". 25 yards had 5 shots in 3/4 inch but they were drifting off center. Even 30 yards could fit under a quarter. This is with a breeze that varied from about 5-10 mph coming from 6 o'clock.

I forgot to mention all of these are 5-shot groups.

I used H+N Field Target Trophy at 10 pumps for +/- 650 fps. My scope is a cheap 4x BSA.

There is no more accurate AG for the money than a Daisy.

You didn't say if that 4X had mil dots ... but if you want bragging rights on your best group, why not account for wind

Really nice group btw. Mine likes Winchester domes, they're cheap and I have lots of them so I'm reluctant to do the tape mod.

No mil-dots on the BSA 4x32. I think it has the clearest glass among all my scopes, however.

The wind is a funny thing. I shoot targets in the back pasture behind our 2-story house. I try to make sure I'm always shooting with the wind behind me where I sit but I think it swirls and eddies around the building. Sometimes it is very different at 30 yards compared to 20 yards. I don't think I have that much trouble out in the woods.

The breeze tends to pick up around buildings much like the air flow around an airplane wing.

Solar winds (air currents caused by the sun warming the ground) subside substantially just before dusk.
