Scoped HW50S

If it's possible to love an inanimate object, I love my Nikon EFR scoped .177 cal. HW50S.  She is far more accurate at 30 yards than I.

Sure is. I love lots of inanimate things. Mostly rifles and a few fishing rods. That's possibly the best all around air rifle combination I can think of. ENJOY!

That is my setup exactly and the gun/scope are a great pairing 👍

Now that Nikon DQd the EFR, I wish that I had stockpiled a few more.

Yeah, count me as another fan of the HW50. In fact, I have two of them, one in 177 and one in 20. These days I mostly just use them to shoot steel at 25 and 30 yards. Love the 20 cal for this work. Definitely smacks that steel a bit harder than the 177. Makes for a nice offhand shooting rig.

Great rifles!  Nothing exotic, but here's my HW50. ARH/Maccari walnut stock, main spring and guides. Paul Short trigger blade/tune. Nimble handling, and well mannered like a tuned HW30, but packs a bigger punch. If I was going to own only one this would be hard to beat. Thank goodness I have a few to cherish and enjoy!

I'm also a big fan of the HW50, I have 2 .20cals and a .22cal, these are probably my favorite air guns of all!

Ok. There is one up at Dead Eye Dicks gun shop. THat is if it hasn't been sold . I had a look at it but it is a bit small. Maybe good but a bit small. It is outlandishly expensive for what you get in NZ dollars  About 12 ft lbs or a  bit less . Certainly no V8 air rifle. I can't see one delivering a pellet with the authority that my Umarex Octane does at 45 to 50 metres. . At the present time that is important to me.
Depends what one expects it to do compared to what one wants to do .

Your Umarex Octane may deliver pellets with authority.  The HW 50 delivers pellets with accuracy.  Maybe that is is not important for you?

I also love mechanical things that bring me happiness, inlcuding my HW50s. They are probably my all time favorite airgun thanks to their excellent handling and accuracy, balance of power/weight/size/recoil, ease of maintenance and repair, and good aftermarket parts support. (Although, a few years ago when I was more into hunting and higher power, the R9 met all those descriptions- just with more weight, size, power, and noise that I don't need these days.)
I have the 3 calibers setup for different uses-
.177 "hunter" with a Vortek SHO kit at 12+ fpe for hunting and longer range precision shooting
.22 "gentleman's plinker" with an ARH soft spring at 11.3 fpe for quiet, relaxed plinking and paper punching
.20 cal "point and shoot" with a sacked Vortek SHO at 11.7 fpe for open sight plinking and hunting.
I added ARH stocks because the action is worthy of walnut, but the factory stocks handle and look great as well.

My Fav Gun after 95 .. 95 is bit heavy compared to 50 and more power but 50s is better handler all day gun for me with Hawke 2x7-32 and enough hunting power

Thank you! It's sure a nice one to pull out and shoot. The trigger is narrow and curvy. Feels great to touch. Probably too light for a field gun. I've toyed with swapping it into the HW98. Haven't done it. Wish all my Rekord triggers were more like this one. May have to ring Paul Short up to learn more.
