ZR mount.

I just bought a Diana 350 magnum premium .22 cal. I also bought fr it a 3x9x40 Air Max scope. I already have ZR’s on shelf ready for use. Really like to use the ZR on the 350. Problem is the length of the ZR is longer than the area needed to to mount on the 3x9.
I do have several other scopes on other guns that will fit. Was hoping I didn’t have to play musical chairs.
Is this a stability thing to make it so long?
Any suggestion?

Hi Crow.

I used to have a Benjamin Trail NPXL 1100 with a Diana Bullseye ZR scope mount on it.

This is how I mounted the scope to the ZR and the ZR to that rifle.

I think you're saying the distance between the belled ends of the scope is shorter than the distance end to end of the scope clamps.  Some scopes are shorter than others.  The rings on some scope mounts are closer than on others.  The ring distance on the ZR mount is about the same as it was on the Diana Lock Down mount.  I tend to confirm that length before I purchase a scope.  If your problem is as I understand it to be I think you're going scope shopping if you plan to use that ZR mount - which I would recommend doing with that gun.

Yes Roadworthy your on on money. Thanks. I just got the 3x9 when I scored the gun not thinking about this. I already had the ZR’s.
Probably have several scopes that will fit the ZR but they’re all nearly double the money which wasn’t in the plan. Put a Sports mount on it for now, super happy with gun. Crow

My experiences..

What you want from your setup is consistency, within a kind of grouping/distances you think are enough to your needs.

After learning how much ES is ok, how to hold, rest, squeezing the trigger, the friendly pellet(s), my worst nightmare with the 350 was when the scope started to don't hold zero. You don't have a clue about what's happening, and waste a lot of efforts with possible suspects that are not the culprit.
So, a trustable scope is a valuable part of the setup.  But, you also have to help the scope as much as you can.  When zeroing, always keep the adjustments within the 'comfort zone' = maximum +-  1 turn from the optical center (in my case, I had to bend the barrel).  Also try to diminish the effects of the second recoil with a dampening mount.

Kinda disappointed in the ZR for sizing, already bought 5. I like the Air Max scopes. Have at least a dozen each of 3x9x40, 4x12x40 and 4x12x50, none of them fit the ZR. That’s my dilemma. Crow

There is also the dampening mount from Sportsmatch; DM60 or DM70.  It doesn't promise 'zero' recoil, but certainly reduces the recoils with its internal O-rings.

Recently, I bought a DM70 for an Airmax 30mm tube and it fits..

Something is wrong.  They should fit.  What is the outside  distance of both rings on your ZR mount?

I had the same problem with my (accurized by Hector Medina) ZR mount; turned out my scope was considered a 'compact' model...
I was able to make it work by cutting a chamfer in the front ring(s), so the objective bell was able to fit into the ring just a tad...
How far are you off?....
I'm sure Hector will chime in, at one point he advised me that I could modify the mount, by repositioning one of the ring sets on the guide rails-do note that would have been a somewhat complicated process, if I had wanted a satisfactory result...

Something is wrong.  They should fit.  What is the outside  distance of both rings on your ZR mount?

Well you have a point!  From the Diana Website, that distance is 14 cm or 6 inches.  Most Hawke scopes, Airmax, the saddle distance is 5.9 Inches.

Yesterday I picked up a Diana 48 .22 cal. I had an Element scope waiting and again I used the ZR mount. After zeroing it I had the scope bottom out. Right, left no problem. It’s deadly accurate but I’m 6 mill marks up from zero.
I would prefer to use the ZR’s.
Any suggestions?

Only 2 suggestions that I can think of are either lap your rings with your desired downward angle already determined.
Or get a drooper adapter.  That would make your scope pretty high.

Yogi thanks for your response. Don’t have near the experience as most of you. I disassembled and reassembled the setup. Shooting with the scope dialed all the way down and still hitting exactly 6 mill marks high. Deadly accurate using that mark, this is a sweet gun, but not going to win a beauty contest.
The scope is springer rated and guaranteed for life, Helix Element 6-24x50. I favor this scope over the Air Max I have with its side focus.
Up to now I’ve been using Sports Match dampa mounts, been happy, no issues, tried BK mount, didn’t hold. Started getting the Diana rifles and not use to the power increase, read here about the ZR. Got 5 on the shelf for projected need. Wanted to install on 350, 48, 460, 54 and a HW90, all scope killers.
I do have a ZR on my 54 pro with no issues. Killer combo. “The Tank”.
I like the theory of these scopes and hope to use them, been challenging.

If you can operate a drill, then you can shorten the distance between rings in your ZR Mounts.
It is DEAD easy:

1.- Disassemble the mounts, you will need a Torx 8 wrench to remove the grub screws that attach the rings to the rails.

2.- Measure VERY carefully the distance needed to shorten the inter-ring distance and REDUCE the length between the two grooves that are cut in the rails. You do NOT need to CUT the rails, just cut another groove for the grub screw to go into to affix the ring to the rails. You can cut the grooves with a triangular file while the rail is spinning in the drill. Do the reduction IN FRONT of the mount. You will get protruding rails, but ¿who cares?

3.- Cut ONE ACTIVE coil from the return spring. Square, grind, and polish the ends.

4.- Reassemble.

If you measured the distances correctly, the mount will NOT bind. If it does, then you measured inaccurately.
