Republic of South Viet Nam Dec. 67 - Feb. 7th 1968
1/5 Marines Hue City
Purple Heart, Bronze Star w/V for valor
Spent 1 yr in US Naval Hospital San Diego, Ca.
Camp Pendleton, Can't remember the unit but instructed reservists in the finer arts of USMC communications eq. until discharge.
Refused a medical discharge as I wanted a USMC honorable Discharge, which means squat now.

No it means you did it with honor. Thank you for your service and welcome home brother. I have refused to sign into the VA for hearing aids or anything benefit related since I have been blessed with good jobs and benefits since leaving the service. I prefer to see the help go to those who need it most

We couldn't help you with Gun Fire Support we just got back to Long Beach USS Eversole DD789 call sign JoltnJoe.
But my friend was assigned to the USS Providence CLG6 Flag Ship for the Admiral of the 7th Fleet. They helped you guys with Gun Fire Support during that time.

I fought in the Cold War!!!

Air Force. George AFB from 1985-1987.

Moved up to China Lake Naval Weapons Center and did some work developing "stuff" for the Naval people.

Lots of geographical job moves and aerospace stuff since then.

After having my job eliminated back in 2001, I was unable to get a well paying job in my field because of being 51 at the time, so I started a business which has been very good to me. Because of past medical issues, individual health care insurance was extremely expensive, so I signed up with the Cleveland VA and my health care has been outstanding. Each VA hospital is only as good as the administrator in charge. Cleveland is blessed to be one that is well run and cares for the health and welfare of the vets. Not all are run by smart & compassionate administrators as we have witnessed.
