So happy venomous critters are rare in WI , and not many non venomous snakes around here either. I have seen a Timber Rattler, but it was caged at a park in SW WI
...They tend to stand their ground where other snakes will run.

I was reading up on the copperheads known to our area and found something interesting...If you catch and relocate them they will search until they return to a familiar area.Young adults also go back to their place of birth to breed and bare their young. They bare 2 to 18 live babies each time depending on the size of the female. Breeding times are spring and fall. They don't like strong smelling plants such as Marigolds, onion and garlic. Or liquids such as ammonia and vinegar.
I like snakes, use to catch lots of snakes when I was a kid, mostly gopher snakes and king snakes, occasionally a Rattler, best snake was a Rosie boa, it was so tame, we let it go the next day after feeding it a fat mouse....
I took Ghog # 50 today. I sent the photo to Ranchibi , then about 20 minutes later I took # 51. No photo of that one ,just a mess of blood down the dark hole. Man those .25 pellets put a BIG hole in 'em that induces a lot of blood flow!
