I'm a vet, my father was a vet, and when I visited him today, we talked about some of the vet friends we both lost.  Some on active duty, some due to lingering effects from time in service, and some just from the stuff that treats us all equally as we slip to the next plane of existence.

I'm the last of my line (that I know of); an unbroken legacy of men and women going back before the birth of the US who served and often died in service.  While I may enjoy some beer and barbecue, I still think of the commitments my ancestors and all their brothers- and sisters-in-arms made to serve an ideal of Greatness.

I attended the annual ceremony and fly over at the Ft. McPherson National Cemetery here in Nebraska like I do every year. I'll be honored to call this my final resting place.
