I'm gaining interest in a pcp gun now.. Just ordered springer today.. I see the Benjamin Marauder in lots of signatures. Is this the hunter of choice these days for a pcp

for the money its a 10 shot bolt action.....not always the best in grouping but the features for the price are awesome

to get those features on a Euro rifle look at $1000.....Marauder refurb can be as cheap as $300

Skip the pump route and get a 4500 PSI tank it just makes it more fun and if you watch the classifieds on the forums you will alot of people selling pumps after they realize it.

My .22 M-rod only likes a couple of pellets but with the ones it likes it's incredibly accurate.  It'll stack Kodiaks and 18.1 gr JSB Domes one on top of another all day long   The trigger is awesome, the 10 shot clip is a hunters dream, I love my M-rod.  I agree with Tom,, 4500 psi carbon fiber tank is the way to go, real glad I bought one. 

Anyway, M-rods are a real nice rifle for the money....

I am speaking from first hand experience.

I tried handpumping with a 122CC S200 with a fill of only 2700PSI and it got old quick.

A Marauder is 225CC and a 3000 PSI fill.  When hand pumping once you hit about 2500 PSI it is alot harder to pump so that last 500 PSI don't sound like far to go but real world its a pain.

My problem is I got carried away and now have 6 different  4500 PSI tanks....the last being a 87 cube feet impulse buy I didn't even need

Disco with its 2000 psi fill is way to go if you are handpumping.....but order up a Marauder trigger group for it.....and it does bark abit

if you get a good m rod then they are great. mine was accurate for a week then idk what happened to it. awful gun now until i can afford a after market barrel for it.    pumping it really isnt that bad, the first pump is awful though, takes for ever. after that its easy IMO.

Marauder & Disco are more the prise of choice....
But that being said they seem to be darn good gun
in the most part...

For any kind of informative suggestion it would be easier to know what would be the main need and use for the rifle.


And don't be afraid of pumps, I have some serious Air Hogs with up to 500cc reservoirs and all I use is Handpumps

i pump my disco from 1100psi to 2000 or even 2400 since im trying to decide if i want to install the heavy hammey spring i have.. pumping is quick and easy.. even going a deliberate pace it takes less then 10 minutes to pump the disco

I was looking into a Disco at first, figured it was cheap enough and could tinker with it a bit, then move on to another pcp or not. Well no one online would ship me a .22 disco, and  I found a place near me that sold the .25 Mrod. It was a win-win and I am very happy. So far since day one it has been very accurate and a great time shooting.

I also use a Hill pump, and have no problem using it. I started off filling to 3000-3200psi and shooting 2 mags through it (16 shots), which brought it down to about 2000psi. I now only fill to 2600psi and shoot one mag through it. Splits it up a bit more and gives me a little better consistentcy.

thats works that last 500 PSI handpumping does not seem like alot till you experience the HUGE increase in pumping effort after about 2500PSI

+1.  i only want the fun and gratification of pulling the trigger. wish i didn't even have to load the mags.

my mrod is accurate, quiet, 10 shot bolt action, with a fully adjustable trigger. minor mod of removing a spring is necessary. but it can be a long 2 stage to a short crisp single stage breaking as low as single digit ounces. my only complaint with my mrod would be the finish on the stock. it chips quite easily. i'm gonna give it a oil finish eventually. but hey in the $400 you will be hard pressed to beat it. IMO you would be hard pressed to beat it for a lot more $$ than that.

I like 4500 tanks.  You get lots of fills and no time spent on pumping, but everyone is different, and the cost is high.

Also if you like a lot of power like some of us, for <$200 more you can have an Air Force Condor and twice the power of a Marauder .22.  The Condor comes in .25cal as well for a little over 50% more power than a Marauder .25.

tanks are reasonable in cost you can find serviceble tanks with 3-5 years time left on them for cheap....hydros are like 20 bucks

cost should not deter you it just takes some time to search them out

Wow.

Am over 60, 170 pounds, and pump fill all my PCPs and HPAs.  The Discovery is a snap.  Suxs the first time you pump it up, but you usually never run it down past 900-1000psi so refilling is 1/2 the work of the first fill.
