Vigilante vs CR 357

 When did the Crosman Vigilante become the Crosman CR 357?

Just spotted this, and they look the same except the name on the barrel...

 Got my answer from Kevin at Crosman
CR357 sold exclusively by Walmart,... ran concurrently with Vigilante, and when Walmart stopped selling pistols the CR357 was picked up by other venders.

I think it was more like the 357 became the Vigilante. Got a couple Vigilantes and a Triple Threat. Bought several 357's, sold as just for parts for the barrels and mags. A few were the older model with the different grips Got a couple of 6 inch 357 barrels, a 4 inch and an 8 inch. And a 6 inch 1357 smooth bore bb barrel. Got the three guns and all the barrels in one case. Got about 20 bb and pellet rotary mags. Fun stuff.

 I know there are older 357's out there,(different grips) and then they later  became the Vigilante.
 He's telling me when Walmart started selling them they went to a different moniker, the CR 357.
Kind of like Crosman American Classic 1377, and then  the Crosman  PC77 from Walmart. Same gun.
  My Vigilante's date code is for 2014. If you try to get schematic/manual they're saying parts are no longer available.
 However, Kevin is telling me the CR357 is made from 14-20.  Other than the name on the barrel it seems to be the same pistol.

I would love an 8 inch barrel for mine, but never see any available.

I think the American Classic 1377 and CR77 are single shot, bolt action,  multi-pumpers.

On the 357, Vigilante and Triple Threat the barrel shroud is plastic and the metal rifled barrel is brass. The 357/8 that I have with an 8" barrel came with the old style grips in black and the frame and barrel were painted silver. The barrel shroud is metal and the rifled barrel is steel. I've seen pictures of the gun with the 8" barrel in black with brown grips.

The barrels that come with the Triple Threat are 4", 6" and 8". They look like 44 magnum barrels instead of the 357 Python look or Vigilante look with the scope or red dot mount.

Yes both the 1377 and PC77 are pumpers. but when Walmart sold it (1377)they put a different name to it. (PC77)
 Same with the Vigi. it became the CR357 from Walmart.
  would a barrel from triple Threat fit a Vigilante?

Yes, all the Triple Threat, Vigilante, the 357 with the old grips and The 357 with the newer grips like the Vigilante/ Triple Threat are interchangeable.

That came after the change in grips and forearm.
My 1st 1377 came from Walmart maybe 7 years ago, it had the standard classic brown furniture and was sold as a 1377.
Then I eventually saw the pc77 at Walmart with the new furniture and assumed it was a new gun till I eventually learned the furniture had just changed and they were badging them as a pc77 for Walmart.

Btw there was also a black-8, and FYI 10 shot cylinders were introduced with the -8 in 1986.
