shooting less and less

It’s hard to say ,but the frequency of my shooting sessions is getting less and less.Used to own a place with a few acres nice open fields,good back stops but now since retiring and moving to somewhere smaller I can’t shoot in the garden ,it’s too small and the direction I can shoot is not good for neighbours.Set up a 35 foot range in the garage but that gets boring.So sadly less and less shooting and less places locally to go to shoot safely.😟might have to find another hobby.
Should say I am in the UK so I shouldn’t be surprised,but there you go.Sorry just having a whinge.

Have you tried shooting pistols instead of rifles at short range? 35' is fairly challenging for a pistol.

Hi Spacebus,sorry I should have said that actually is with a pistol.A weirauch HW45 .22 air pistol.It is a lovely pistol and you are quite right it is fun at 35 feet but I used to enjoy pushing out to 25 or 30 yards,which while difficult is lot of fun.Now I am continuously on short range it isn’t the same.I’ll keep looking for venues ,we shall see

Kevin, sorry to hear about moving to a smaller place, less yardage to shoot. But, like Bill said abive, find different challenges to spice it up a bit, please don't give up this wonderfully fun sport, maybe smaller and smaller targets like fly print outs.  From across the pond.

I have space out to 100yds. but spend alot of time shooting 10yds and less. Red dots and Peeps make it challenging.

Thanks Guys,I guess I should find new ways to shoot,I will set up a small range in the garage,problem is whilst  my garden isnt a bad size my neighbours (who are really lovely people) have young kids and chickens both right behind the only place I can put a back stop.Thanks for the encouragement .

My P1, same as your HW, was purchased new in the early 90’s. Since then I’ve enjoyed CO2, MSP and PCP pistols adding some of each to my small collection. Most recently I acquired a 747 entry level 10m pistol. Its super quiet, way more accurate than I am, and a different discipline to shoot well. At nearly 60, I won’t be trying out for any matches, but I m enjoying the challenge and I have been shooting more. Plus I don’t feel the need to stretch the distance because thats NOT what it was designed for.

This is so true! It really made me enjoy shooting at short range with my rifles again. It's tough for me with a decent rest and compact red dot optic! I'll have to start trying the pistol matches.

I do have an older webley hurricane ,which is nowhere as powerful as the HW45 and I was considering keeping the Hurricane as it is nicer at short range and maybe ,And somewhat reluctantly sell the HW.Still trying to come to a satisfactory solution with this.

Perhaps you could find a friendly farmer that would let you shoot along the edge of his field.

Michael,Yeah,used to go regularly with a couple of mates to a couple of farms.Unfortunately the farmers don’t want shooters on their land now which meant the other guys stopped shooting.Don’t get me wrong I’m not “billy no mates”😂😂😂.I still go mountain biking and canoeing with the same guys very regularly,it’s just the shooting that has taken the hit.It’s obviously very very different over in the States than in the UK.
