Not everyone has the lung power to propel .625 darts.

A .40 caliber is a good starter BG, or even a .50.

Always go for a minimum of 4', particularly a 1-piece 'cuz connectors are plain junk.

Pretty hard to find a 4' unit nowadays though.

I've always wanted one, but just never got it around to actually pull the trigger. I  think it would be fun just learning to shoot it, and testing your marksmanship on a dart board.

4’ is the sanctioned international length.

Also much easier to “aim”, and the length also bolsters the velocity.

I prefer .50 or .55 caliber though for target shooting and hunting, but I only use less than 50% of my power when doing the former.

I made 1 back in the early 80s out of a .5 inch copper tube. I flared the mouth end with a tubing flare tool. Used nails with the heads cut off and some.5 inch wide masking tape. Used some thin mylar rolled into a cone with the tip cut off just enough to allow the nail to go through. I would take the masking tape and roll it on to the head end of the nail and then back roll it until the sticky part is is making a cone shape to mate with the mylar cone. Put the dart into the muzzle end of the blow tube and cut it off even with the end of the blow tube. I haven't messed around with 1 in decades but still have the lungs for it.

They’re good for the health.

Pretty popular in Japan, but they use Fukiya style darts with a 1” nail as tip.

Dr. Higuchi sent me some when I was still in Asia.

Very accurate but too light for my taste, and I found it difficult for me to be consistent.

Even my 25% was somehow too much for that type of dart.

Any cheap smaller caliber blow gun like the one you linked should be fine, it is just a tube after all and there should be no accuracy difference.
My recommendation is to just make one.

You can use a piece of copper pipe , and paper cones with nails as the tips.
Or you can use a piece of PVC with wire nuts and nails
For the mouth piece, make it from a piece of soda bottle.

I used to do this all the time as a kid before I learned that they technically aren't legal in my state , then I stopped for awhile until I realized nobody would know that I was harmlessly massing around in my backyard.

Get the Cold Steel 5 foot, .625 cal.  The length gives the power. Greater accessibility of darts and accessories. The .625 is only the size of the sealing cup. Darts aren’t huge or heavy to propel.
It’s BS that it takes a lot of lung power and it’s not filling your cheeks with air. It comes from the diaphragm.
I’m 76 and don’t have a problem.

IMO Rick is right.  .40 cal is a good choice.  My home made 5 footer (used to be a 7 footer) is .42 and I shoot cotton tufted (used to be Kapok) bamboo darts.  I make the darts out of Bamboo skewers.  I tried one of the fancy sectional ones with the piano wire and plastic darts.  Didn't seem to work any better.

I have a .50 cal blowgun. I was surprised how accurate it is. Problem is that .50 darts are hard to find/get. Lots of .40 & .625 cal available on line.

Despite the "sneeze" remark above, I have been considering the Cold Steel 5 footer.
However, there are some things said about them on Amazon make me to hesitate.
1. That the darts fall out of the tube when aiming at a downward angle
2. That there is little consistency in dart diameter; Some being too large to fit the tube, others too loose to trap air,

What's your experience with this?
