Dug out the Backpacker

Never did shoot my Backpacker not even sure if I ever sighted it in. So that last few days I been trying different pellets with dismal results. So, back to basics, cleaned the barrel. checked all screws for tightness and grabbed more brands of pellets.

JSB and RWS Superdomes were frankly terrible. Then, I remembered I had an old (2002) brown box of Crosman ,22 pellets. Heck why not. Lately nothing I have tried Crosman pellets in were really that great.

So, who would have known. 15 shots at 20 yards, just cleaned the barrel and the next group after this one was even better.

That says something about the airgun... and the shooter behind it.

I had a similar experience recently with a brand new 1377, cleaned the barrel and shot ragged one holes at 10yrds, unsupported. With JSB Exact RS.

I'm just glad I finally got the Backpack to shoot good groups. Was a bit of a struggle at first. Bad thing is for now it only shoots the old boxed Premiers and you cannot get those anymore. Like early 2000s ..... no later than 2008 maybe. So I dug out some more 22 brands to see what is as good.

Nice shooting with those old crosmans!! I’ve have found that at least “some” of my air rifles that tend to shoot crosmans well also did well with beeman pointed or even gamo magnum pointed pellets.
May be worth a try if you have’nt already.

Very nice shooting...can't wait to get my Mellon Air Flat Top Kit so I can see what my Project 1322 can do.

Nice shooting and yes they are great air guns and IMHO one of the most versatile.

Put the Alchemy Airwerks Stainless Steel hammer pin in project 1322 today got a confirming dry fire pulse, went outside to chrono and got a 10 pump air fart so looks like a have to fix the headspace after the dis-assembly for pin install....still don't know what she'll do....argh
