Was shooting the .22 Sentry out the shooting window of the Red Shed this morning. It was early and maybe 40 degrees out. Cold enough for my fingers to begin to lose dexterity. For some strange reason the mag wouldn't come out of the breech like it was jammed. Only thing I could think of is that the barrel had somehow slipped back and wedged it in.
I took the scope off and loosened the grub screw enough to wiggle the barrel and ease it out a smidge. I aligned the flat to the grub and tightened it back down. Now it was too loose and the mag wouldn't stay in position. So I tried it again with the mag in the breech. Nope, as soon as I tightened it down the mag was locked in. What the what?
The light bulb came on, it was dim but on none the less. With the Allen wrench, I tried to push on the detent ball that aligns the mag in the breech.... solid as a rock.     I happened to have a section of brass barrel cleaning rod handy so I put a drop or 2 of oil on the ball and tapped it a few times with the brass rod and a hammer. It loosened up and soon got to where I could just push it in and out with the rod.
That was it.. the detent ball needed lubed. That's going to need to be on my routine maintenance list on this gun.

BTW.. while I had the barrel out I put some silicone oring grease on the orings.

I am absolutely amazed at the transformation that this gun has gone through. It went from being almost trash can filler for 2 different guys to one of my most accurate guns. There are times I have to change POI to make sure it's still hitting where I aim. Pellets went into the exact same hole at 35yds. with the JTS 18.1 Dead Centers. Cocking it smooth and deliberate. I like the balance and control with the thumbhole stock. The trigger is just the way I like it (a short pull to the wall and a glass breaking snap to fire). The mags can be topped off without being empty and no fiddling with loading the first one back wards.
I get 5 8 round mags to a 2900 psi fill.
And leaving that silly looking 3 picca rail plastic doo hicky off the top of the gun takes alot of the FUGLY out of it.
Like I said before, this one is a keeper for me.

It's been a minute for this one...
Since swapping to .22 it will consistently stack the JTS 18.1 Dead Center pellets but that's not my goal. My goal is to exclusively cast all my .22 and .25 pellets and not have to pay the stupid prices and shipping cost of production pellets.
I spoke about this yesterday in my casting thread. I think I need to increase the power on a few of my .22 guns to get them to shoot the heavier cast pellets. I've always tuned for shot count and accuracy because I was buying production ammo and I liked to match shot count to mag quantity and full fills.
I mean it's nice to have enough mags to match a full fill but now I'm leaning in another direction.. I want to shoot my cast pellets accurately in the guns I own and shoot.
With that, I'm going to take a look at the Sentry HC Deluxe .22 first.

I cranked the power wheel from 2.5 to just over 4 and filled the gun to 2900psi. I got 2 mags (16 rnds) down to 2100 with the 19.40 Hunters 1/2" groups.
I topped the gun back off and shot 2 mags with the 24gr Magnums. Groups opened to 1"+
I was getting 3 mags down to 2100 with the lighter production pellets.
If this gun will hold those numbers and accuracy with the 19.40 Hunters, I can live with that. I think I only have the one mag for this gun (I'll have to poke around in my mag box) so reloading between mags will slow the shooting session as well.
I haven't pulled the chrono out yet but those numbers won't mean much to me anyways. But from the sound of those pellets hitting my 2mm high strength steel blanks, I would bet I'm getting 30+ fpe.

Think I'll just shoot and enjoy this gun today and move on to another tomorrow.
Guns to try:
Fortitude - a regulated gun so powering up will take deeper adjustments.
Urban - stock has to come off to change hammer spring setting.
Hatsan - Flash QE = again, stock needs to come off.
Beeman 1358 = easy to adjust.. maybe this one will be next in line.
FD-PCP = 2k gun shooting 14.3 20 for 20... I may not even want to tinker on this one.
I have a few others but I don't think they can be easily powered up without deeper mods. I don't have the tools or talent for much of that.

Just a heads up for Sentry owners...
There is a member that is 3d printing mags for the .22 and .25. I will be receiving the first of these in the mail today for function testing. These are 12 round mags but I believe he will be making 10 round mags as well for those with clearance issues (height of scope). If you have tried to acquire mags for the Sentry you'll know that they are pretty much impossible to find.
I'll be updating this thread with progress.

I got the mags in the mail this morning and I'm happy to report that the .22 fits and cycles perfectly.
I did make a mistake in the previous post... the .22 mag is 12 shot and the .25 mag is 10 shot.
I have not tested the .25 but I have no reason to think it won't work as good as the .22.
I need to interact with the member that will be offering these before I post his contact info... should be later today.

Wayne had a knack for making those import guns look good. He is the reason I got my Crosman TW 150. He was a good man, glad to see his name and influence pop up in here. I have always wanted a Sentry but I have been trying to get rid of some guns first. Someday I will lay hands on one. Glad to hear yours was resurrected and shooting well.

Ran the mag through 4 or 5 reload cycles yesterday and it functioned flawlessly. I placed my order for 2 more of them. I get 40 shots with a full fill from my .22 Sentry and these 3 mags plus the one functioning factory mag will give me enough mags to cover a full fill. I like to match mag capacity with the gun's shot capacity per fill. Makes it nice to load mags while the GX CS3 compressor is refilling the gun.
