Taipan Vet top breech bolts

Looking for the size of these screws so I can replace them. Also what suggestions do we have for removing these stripped out heads? Thanks for any help.

Can't help with the screw sizes, but for removal I've had decent luck with this style extractor.  Not this exact one, but this style.

Worst case you just carefully drill the heads off......remove the breech and then you can use a pair of vise grips/etc to remove the rest.

Try friction drops first, if that doesn't work I would JB weld some disposable hex keys into the holes.

I only recently learned of this substance and ordered a bottle from amazon. I stripped a couple of hex screws that came with my BR AR conversion kit and can't really take it apart until I figure that out. I'm really hoping the friction drops or epoxy will get them out. I used the same amount of force as I would with the OEM screws, but it seems the screws BR uses are a bit softer. Hopefully the local hardware store has some more durable (maybe even stainless!) replacements.

This is what I ordered, which had the best reviews when I was searching for various friction drop products on the web.

The shipping is slow and $5, but hopefully worth it. I'll be using it going forward when I remove any screws from my guns or vehicles. Apparently this is what the military uses on aircraft.

Heck I have that set of extractors some where if I can find them. Not sure how carefully I can drill holes now days.

Lapping compound will also work on stripped heads. Before removing, heat the screws with a soldering iron..

Understood on the concern around drilling.  that is a tight spot with potential for costly collateral damage.....  Good luck, whatever route you take!

So, I have had some good luck by tapping a torx into the allen slot.  Even a good fitting torx may do it. Probably not enough room to dremel a flat head slot, but maybe? Good luck.

Torx bits are everywhere. (Ace will probably extract it for you for free) If the best fitting size doesn't work, then slightly round the front of the next size up untill it can be tapped into the allen. It should be really easy. I have used this on many remote controle Allen's that were in really bad shape. Good luck!

going to give the ezgrip a try if it doesn't work. i have a buyer.

ok the ezgrip didn't work. So i got up this morning drug out the drill press. drilled heads off and swapped side, robbed my taipan standard breech bolts. and put the compact vet back together.

you should be able to find the bolts you need at Ace hardware, try to get the best grade they have, stainless would be good too, glad to hear you got the old bolts out and the gun working....

Thanks kbstingwing stainless or arp grade8. Oh the little compact vets great, shoots crosman 14.3 in same hole as jsb hades 15.89.

sometimes we get lucky, sometimes we don't.  It always feels good when we do.

This was a stripped out Prod trigger sear cover screw.
