Dating a 1077

I’ll admit to being a Crosman NOOB, so can I get confirmation from some of you folks with much more knowledge? I recently picked up a 1077. From everything I’ve read, the first 3 or 4 digits of the S/N indicate the date of manufacture, which in this case I would interpret as October 1993 (O93). However the earliest Model 1077 I can find in my Blue Book of Airguns, Thirteenth Edition, shows the model new in 1994? What am I missing, or am I correct?
