QB questions, any help???

Does the QB-79 still come without a bottle?
A few years ago it didn't and that was an additional cost.

Still no bottle lol I have a bunch of carts that need using , so I'm trying to figure out which adapter will fit

Thank you for the info Lee,  I agree the 79 isn't as attractive as the 78 but like you I like the versatility of it. I have quite a few pcps already so I'm not really looking to set it up as hpa permanently but I do have a ninja v2 and 13ci tank that I took off my prod, could be fun to try occasionally.
  I really want something lightweight that I don't have to pump for plinking and squrriel hunting.(plus I just wanted an excuse to buy a new rifle lol) I have never tried builk filling c02 before, but I wat to look into it. Depending how far I would have to travel to get it filled I may give it a try, once I figure out what equipment I need.

Thinking of the hpa aspect of it, one of the carbon fiber bottles shouldn't add much weight I would think? That would probably be a cool option for rotation anyway.

My experiences with Amazon packaging air rifles was disappointing, and my experience with Beeman was just plain weird.

Amazon was the only place I found the QB-79, and yes, the rifle might not do well with Amazon packaging.
Mine came with the rifle box untaped, inside a box the size of a small refrigerator with no filler or padding. So the rifle probably came out of it's box right away, and tumbled around inside the big box the whole way here. (The second QB came the same way).
Fortunately there was nothing else in the box besides the instruction manual or the rifle would have some cosmetic damage.

Beeman Customer Service seems to be non-existent. I tried to reach someone on the phone for weeks, no one answered and no one returned my voice mails.
No one ever answered my e-mails either. I wanted to see if I could get two new gas blocks that didn't have wanky threads, but never mentioned that, just that I had bought two QB-79's that had a problem. You'd think they might be curious and get back to me before blowing me off, but they weren't interested in the least.

I figured if Beeman wasn't going to be helpful, I'd go direct to the source. I was on the SAG website and saw there was a contact e-mail, so I sent a message saying I had two QB's with crooked gas block threads and could I perhaps order a couple that weren't crooked ?
 A lady by the name of Maggie Chen answered a few days later and said she'd look into the matter.
The very next day a guy from Beeman called me, and said in a round-about way that he was reaching out to me because someone at SAG insisted that he do so. He basically was told to get off your butt and do your job and help this guy.

When I told him the problem, he said the thing I needed was a multi-shot breech. It would raise the barrel away from the air tube, giving me more clearance for the HPA tank. O.K., I just wanted a couple new gas blocks, but a magazine capable upgrade would be nice.
Obviously they didn't have any spare gas blocks.
He said he was sending the parts I'd need to convert. That's great but what about the other QB that has the same thread issue ?
A few days later I got a box containing a complete breech, barrel, taller barrel band and a new valve assembly (presumably for the taller cocking tab sticking out).

Despite me telling him several times that my rifles were .22, the stuff he sent was .177.
Figures.
 I didn't even try to contact the guy again to get the breech/barrel swapped for .22 ones, it would be much more pleasurable to bang my head against a wall.
 Beeman figures they made a gesture because they were forced to, and then washed their hands of it, didn't matter if the customer was taken care of or not.

I wasn't aware of all that.

Their quality control fell off the cliff after they took control of it away from Tim at Mac-1.  I remember seeing QB78s for forty bucks at gun shows back in the mid-nineties.  They were &^^&.  Bent barrels and non-concentric bores were not uncommon.

Beeman has brought the standards back up, but not to where they once were.  Part of the fun of owning one of the recent production guns is getting them into fine shooting shape.

Got it in today, and yes, it was in a huge box, you could have packed atleast 12 of the rifles in. The inner box was destroyed with the rifle loose in the big box. Cosmetically it looks fine, the bolt was stuck but I finally got it loose.
 I ordered a 12gr adapter but it doesn't fit the receiver, there is no type of adapter like the instructions say. Anyone know where to get one?

I feel you on shipping these days...  My bud's arrived with the barrel sticking out of the box and the front sight missing.

Can you post pics of the fitting end of the tube and the adaptor?  Someone here will know which one you need. 

It doesn't hurt it to dry fire it, so you can tune the trigger before you get it running.

Glad you got one. There are finer rifles out there but the QB's are a lot of fun. Jason did his magic on one of mine and it is my go to rifle for most all tasks.

I was mystified myself when I got my QB's, as the Amazon product description said it came with an adapter. No adapter in sight.
Good thing as if there had been an adapter in that huge shipping box, it would have beat up the rifle.

I ordered this Valken one, with it you can shoot the 88 gram carts, (and you'll need it to use in conjunction with the Co2 saver adapter should you get one of those).


This is the Umarex Co2 saver, useful saving the big 88 gram carts if you want to, say, switch over to HPA for a while but don't want to waste it by bleeding it empty to remove.
The check valve was a little sticky when new, a couple times I went to remove a partially full 88 gram and it sounded like it wasn't going to stop the gas. I screwed it back on, then off again and the second time the check valve did its job.


This is the 12 gram adapter I bought. I never used it but sent it to my son-in-law for his QB so I can't remember if it screwed directly on or not.
Pretty sure the Gurlieu did go right into the QB. (If not, having the Valken adapter will take care of that).

There are also 12 gram adapters that use 2 cartridges back to back.
Usually the only bad comments about any of the various adapters on Amazon are :
1), the O-ring that seals the unit to the rifle is inadequate, replace with a better quality O-ring.
2) the piercer tip is not sufficiently pointed or sharp enough to reliably pierce some Co2 cartridges, Umarex cartridges seem to be better than Crosman or Daisy.

I had forgotten until you said it, SwampHunter, but both of my QB's had bolts frozen forward too.
A light tap with a rubber hammer got them loose.

Should you decide to go HPA, the Tippman threads right on to the QB, no adapter needed.
It is regulated to 850 psi per shot, very similar to the "natural" regulated pressure of Co2.
Ninja also has an 850 psi regulated tank.

I've heard of others using the Ninja tank with the 1,000 psi regulator on the QB's as well.

I know there are lots of nice rifles out there, I have a few budget rifles that are nice to me anyway, but I don't like hauling them around. I just want something that will do the job, feels like a rifle and won't cost a fortune to replace when I mess it up lol. Have mostly been a crosman guy because of parts availability,  I actually have a 22xx build I'm working on in front of me now lol, but thought I would give the qb a try. Today was the first time I have ever held one, I kinda like it. In fact I almost ordered a 78 to match it lol

Ok, so a quick follow up lol. I put the 13ci ninja regged bottle on the qb, fits perfectly. I'll find a 12gr adapter eventually. I ordered a xs60 from MM with the mid power tune , around 700 fps and light trigger pull. So, now we wait lol

I'm sorry, but I have to respectfully disagree with you as the adapter that I bought looks exactly like that on the fitting end and it was too small. However my ninja v2 screwed right in.  So either I have a different model than everyone else or.....

I'm sorry, but I have to respectfully disagree with you as the adapter that I bought looks exactly like that on the fitting end and it was too small. However my ninja v2 screwed right in.  So either I have a different model than everyone else or.....

All 88g's are 16mm x 1.5 thread with a neck down to seal inside the o ring in the receptacle (gas block). That is exactly what that Umarex adapter is. If your needs are otherwise, I'm glad you found what you need.
