QB questions, any help???

So I have been thinking about a co2 rifle, I have a 2250 crosman, but looking for something with more punch, prefer a wooden stocked rifle. First option would be to order a 2260 stock and drop the 2250 in it, may do that still but looking at other options.
  I have read pages and pages on the qb series,  plus the xs60 from MM. But I have a few questions. I have found a qb79, a qb 78 and a deluxe. What are the non cosmetic differences? I read that the deluxe has a more desirable trigger and the barrel od is larger, and easier to add ldc too? I want the best trigger available obviously, this will be for hunting squirrels and plinking.
 I want .22 cal, but am not interested in hpa as I have plenty of pcps but I'm tired of the fuss of filling them.

Good questions.

The QB79 uses a tank attached to the front of the tube.  The others use a couple of co2 cartridges.  They are adaptable to bulk fill with co2.  The internals across all of them are the same.

The deluxe has a gold trigger and bolt.  The stock is slightly bigger, too.  They all have the same fully adjustable trigger group.  The AR2078 has a target type stock with a nice cheek-piece.  The stock stock's  cheek-piece is way too low for a good weld, though.

I really like the system.  If you're willing to spend a bit of time cleaning up the sharp edges, replacing the transfer port seal and deburring the gas port, you'll find that they do very well.  Mine consistently puts 5 Crosman Premier hollowpoints into less than a half-inch at 25 yards.  That's pretty good for a 22.  Lapping the bore and then free-floating it helps.

I recently accurized a friend's standard SAG .177 and found that it does as well as the 22.  If you look up Ribbonstone here, you'll find his posts on the QB series very informative.

Try to find the deluxe QB78 or 79...because, like u said, the trigger and i like the stock its nicer with butt pad. I pefer the 79 over the 78...My preference. The 79 allows me to use the carts or bottle fed. You can keep em stock or mod them...up too u.

I own 77, 78, 79 & ar2078b series.

Honestly, I've always considered the gold trigger and bolt to be a little too...  uhhh...  non-heteronormative.  That said, you can probably get whatever parts you need to make it so from ^&$@_=s.

I got 3 …78 deluxe yes its got the bling…ar2078 and a 78S in .177…all have LDC’s….the 78S is so quiet sometimes I think its broke….all on the money at 30 yards..(all I got)…really like the platform…thinking about a PCP …good luck on your choice…

The sights on the deluxe are the type with light-conducting fiber (front and rear).  Using them is much like trying to aim with a Christmas tree.  Other than that and the bling, you're not getting anything much different with the standard SAG model.  I'd go for one of those.  The standard sights are the much better old Crosman standard sights.  Here's a pic of my friend's standard rifle.  His was missing the front sight when it arrived.

Thanks for your help so far guys, I found a qb79 for $125 in .22 is that a decent price for one or should I keep looking? So far the best I have found on the deluxe version 78 is around $165. Have found a few standards cheaper or .177 versions.

I'd go for the 79 at that price.  You won't find them for much less that that.

Thanks for all the advice guys, will definitely be doing what I can to get it to shoot accurately Goose, but I ordered the 79 last night as there where only 10 left and I couldn't even find them anywhere else for sale. Seems like the 78d I a little easier to find, so I can get it later lol.

I don't think, so but there are a number of options.  Wondering how many shots you get with a 9 oz tank.

A few years ago it didn't and that was an additional cost.

The QB-79 with it's abbreviated fore end is a bit less attractive than the 78, but it seems much more versatile.
I was interested in running an HPA tank, so I got the QB-79.
The 88 gram will screw right on, but I used another adapter (Umarex Co2 Saver) that had a check valve in it, so I could remove the 88 gram cart and put it back on later without loss of gas.

I shot the gun with the 88 gram cartridges until I got the Tippman 13 cu. in./3000 cc. 850 psi HPA tank. I saw that the 88 gram cartridge wasn't parallel to the barrel, but was angling up.
When I installed the Tippman it should have cleared the barrel by 1/8" or a bit less, but because of the crooked threads, the end of the tank was rubbing the barrel.

I started an Amazon return, figuring that a replacement might very well have the same crooked threads. Amazon said a replacement was on the way, and no need to return the first QB, they didn't need it back.
I got the second QB, same threads that will have your 13 in. tank rubbing the barrel but I had a second QB that I've since sent to my S-I-L for a backyard gun.

Other than the threads, both rifles are O.K.. Both had a filthy brown preservative in the bore that took a while to get out.
The other thing to check for is the port that is punched through by the front of the bolt. There will be a sharp edge to that port, and it will slice up your barrel O-rings when you remove the barrel ( for cleaning in my case).

Both of the 79's shot the Crosman HP decent, and really like the JSB Stratton and Monster.

The QB's have nice full size stocks (I cleaned mine with rubbing alcohol and then waxed with furniture wax).
The triggers are adjustable and decent, just expect to have to soften some sharp edges and replace 0-rings.
I like shooting the QB on HPA, not temperature sensitive like Co2, and cheaper than Co2 since I bought a hand pump  .
But since I bought a couple of SPA rifles, the QB isn't getting used much.
The Snow Peak guns run $50-$60 more but are in a whole 'nother class as far as fit and finish..
