Is there a low operating pressure PCP out there?

I stumbled upon a post by Mike M. from 2011 about an idea he had for a 1500-ish psi PCP rifle based on the XS-60. If something like that (maybe up to 2000 psi) were available in .177 from FDAR or any other source/manufacturer, I would be all over that like stink on poo. My main gripe with my recently sold PCP rifle was shot count. My (regulated) PR900 seemed to have such a puny shot count that it felt like I spent as much or more time pumping it than I did shooting it. I buy guns to shoot them, not fiddle with them. Are there any PCPs out there that fill to 2000 psi or less?

P. S. I realize that there are limits to the power that such a setup could produce. That's not an issue for me. I would be completely satisfied with 10-15 fpe in .177 and tickled pink with 20.

Seems that some have had success adjusting the Marauders to run off a lower fill pressure too.

If money isn't an object, the venerable USFT in unregulated form will get 50ish very consistent shots per fill at 19.5fpe, filling to 1450 and refilling at 1250.

Many others could prob be configured to run off lower pressure, if you're not power-hungry like so many seem to be these days. And heaven forbid, wanting to shoot "SLUGS" cuz all the cool kids seem to be doing it.

Edit: one of the Airicuda's isn't regulated.....Maybe Travis can jump in and tell us if detuning for lower fill pressure is a possibility with that gun....

What he said.    I first bought a .25 marauder filling to 3000 and it became a problem when I realized I was too old to be manually pumping it up to 3000 all the time.
I bought a Benjamin Discovery and a scuba tank to fill with. Great combo as I was able to fill my marauder using the 3000 psi scuba a few times and then my Discovery to 2000 from that tank. Local scuba shops were my friend. I also then started shooting my marauder using what's called a BLT. Brian's Low Tune. Lower FPE but more shots. It's a trade off as I really didn't need that much power. I can go in to more detail if needed. PM me.

Alas, I have moved on, bought a compressor and 4500 psi tank, a few new rifles needing higher fills, etc. Down the rabbit hole I went.

I have my Disco currently set up as a low velocity plinker, I get 75 shots on a bell-ish curve from 550-650-550 fps with 14.3 gr CPHP, filling to 1700 PSI and shooting down to about 400. It's a large spread but acceptable for what I use it for. It's actually surprisingly accurate at 100 yards, I hit my 12" steel target more often than not off-hand. Nothing like a half second plus delay between shot and plink

Brendan, you might want to take a look at the XS60C, which is C02 powered. Mine in .22 cal can hit 18 fpe with Mike's full power tune, and I am sure with a lesser tune could give quite a few shots. It only takes a few minutes to empty the used up carts and put fresh ones in and your good to go again. Nice, accurate inexpensive rifle to consider.

It would work beautifully for about 7 months out of the year here in Ohio. I want something that I can hunt squirrels with through December and January which would make CO2 problematic. I believe the FD PCP was based on the XS-60 originally.

The Mac1 USFT tube guns have a 1,500 psi fill. But they are $$$.

I tuned my AEA HPSS plus to have a fill pressure of 2,200 psi and it gets 36 shots at 25 ftlbs. I did this by cutting coils off the hammer and valve spring. Hopefully the valve stem will live longer this way.

Your description is a good match for a regulated PCP whose regulator is set to a modest pressure in the range of 800 - 1200psi.  You can fill to 2000psi and get a bunch of consistent shots.  In the budget category, something like the Avenger.

Or a gun that accepts a paintball bottle...the regulator on those is usually set to 850psi or so.

Yep, a gun you can run with a paintball tank, regulated at 850 psi.... In .177 you can get all the power you want, and hundreds of shots on a 3000 psi fill before you hit the regulator setpoint.... Need more power, up the regulator pressure....

 An Umarex Fusion 2 with a safe pack will give you that power level, and good accuracy, but unless tethered shot count is low as in 20 max. A reverse bottle adapter would git er done.
 Or most budget PCP with a regulator, if not handy with adjustments have it shipped right to a tuner, then to you

Just because a gun is rated at a high max fill it don't mean it has to be filled to max. Like Bob said, a regulated gun is great for low pressure shooting. Just set the reg low and fill the gun to anything above the reg setting.
For example.. A reg setting of around 1100 will get you a good number of shots on a 2k fill.

And in the "no work" category... I have a CZ200 .177 with an Altoros air cylinder that has an internal regulator.  It does 70+ shots @11.4fpe with a 2900psi max fill pressure.  And the best part is that all you have to do to install it is unscrew the OEM cylinder and screw in the Altoros.  Done.  But considerably more costly than regulating a disco/maximus.  And the CZ200 is still a single shot rifle, if that's important to you.

Don't forget that there may be options to do what you want with a more powerful gun that you already have on hand - it can be amazing the transformation that con occur with different hammer energies and thus lower fill pressures.

I have a .22 Air Ranger that left the factory as a 50 FPE model, and it shot great at that level but it proved to be more power than I really needed.  Those guns use "spring spacers" to adjust the hammer energy, so I played around with ones that reduced the energy and ended up with a smooth shooting ~30 FPE bottle gun (unregulated) that gives me over 30 good shots from a fill of less than 2000 psi with an ES well under 2%.  Eventually I made an internal SSG for it (no mods required for the gun) that made it even more efficient, and with a bit more air in it to start at I have close to 100 shots on board at that power level, admittedly with a drop off near the end (pushing 5% ES).  The gun is a dream to shoot like this, and is very hand pump friendly (although I don't hand pump anymore).

I think that you can get a new  gen 1 177/22 Gauntlet pretty cheap, sometimes on sale for less than $200. Adjust the reg to 850-900psi and a simple Youtube tune should be easy to reach your goal. Accurate, with a light hammer spring, easy to cock, with a wide range of adjustment.  Large capacity carbon bottles are fairly inexpensive these days....700cc  regged at 900 psi  would yield countless quiet shots.....I used to play around with a gauntlet and have several parts I made and did not use. I''ve convinced myself into one!

I am running Air Arms S200T’s, unregulated and at a lower power of course, but I get at least 80-90 accurate shots out to 20-25 yards with a 170-190 Bar fill (2500-2900ish PSI).

I would assume the mag fed conversion would work on the CZ200 as they are basically the same gun. One of mine is set up with the air arms 10 shot mag setup and it works great.  Low’ish pressure, 10 shot repeater, VERY accurate with AA Diabolo Fields or H&N Finale Heavy Match and high shot count.

You are not gonna hunt with it but it’s a heckuva fun plinker.

Installing the tank is easy. Just unscrew the tube that is used for the two CO2 carts. There are threads there if you want to screw in one of the 88 g CO2 cylinders. There is adaptor shown that fits the paintball tank on the PA web page. That adaptor fits the same thread and also fits the tank. Easy. Except you have to carve up the front part of your stock. I filled the tank to 2000 psi and it's been holding for a couple weeks now.

If you are mechanically inclined you could convert a Chaser to accept a paintball bottle with just screwing some stuff together. You could just get a Froggy drop block and a 9ci Tippmann bottle with OEM reg and go for it. Just fill the bottle to whatever pressure you want over 850 PSI and you're good to go.

I'm adding a 9ci Tippmann 3k bottle to a high powered Bandit carbine build, but I've tuned my Bandit for a high shot count using a Chaser hammer spring and 100b setting for the internal Altaros reg.

Even tho it is not an issue for you... the .22 maximus can get 50 fpe for 6 shots with a good es with JSB 25.4g off it's 2000 psi with just a port job on the valve and a .143" t-port..
