Crosman 362 woodie stock

  Small imperfection, pump handle sanded a bit closer in on one side than the other.  I know some folks would be real put off by this. Easy fix, I may do it.  Or not.

  Shot a few groups with the sight adjustments made last night.  Seems to like the lighter ones, so far.  I don't think I can shoot any better than the lower left group, scope or no scope.  Beats me why these thumbnails are upside down.

Hi guys,
I pre-ordered and received #203 direct from Crosman. This is my 1st 362 because I was not interested in the plastic version although I followed the forum posts about it and could see it is a good platform.

#203 is decent looking with nice contrast in the grain but without any fancy shimmer (I'll need to put some pics up maybe next week) and I like the ergonomics. Trigger is heavier than a classic 342 or 'Streak, but it's crisp and much better than a factory 392PA trigger. Accuracy is OK for plinking with CPHP, and initial testing shows more potential with RWS and JSB. I usually shoot 3 or 4 pumps at 20-25 yards and the pumping is a little stiffer and longer throw than the classic Benjis and 'dans, but overall, with the decent trigger, compact ergonomics, good-enough accuracy, walnut stock, and ignoring the high price and the fact that I prefer open sights over peeps for field guns, I'm pretty happy with it.
My only concerns are that I had to  adjust the peep ALL the way right to zero, but it does zero.
My other concern is that I noticed oil accumulating by the transfer port between the compression tube and breech. The tissue test shows slight blow-by in that area, but velocity is still around 645 at 8 pumps with 14.3, so it's probably not losing too much energy.
I probably won't bother complaining to Crosman about these issues but maybe I should for $400. I'd hate for them to replace it with a plainer one, though.

Not a big deal for me.  I could even it out but probably won't. Not sending back, I'm happy with it.

I too wish the barrel band was made of something else.  I guess it works well enough, ever since the model 160, 180.

  Popped on a spyglass, this is what I do.

  One little cosmetic detail no one else seems concerned about, the contour of the butt pad.  To my eye, it should follow the line of the stock at the toe.  Minor, but there it is.

what I can see so far your lumber looks pretty nice also...scope looks like a 70's Japanese Tasco 4x32... if so, fine wire..? love 'em for pumpers...

Had a little time today to void the warranty on my 2023 362.

Made a pivot support out of a 13xx front sight. Not as pretty as Ron’s but it’s functional. Also replaced the roll pin with a Alchemy solid pivot pin. No change in power but what a difference it made in tightening up the pump mechanics! Thanks again to Ron for verifying the must do mod.

Also made the barrel spacer I like. U can see where I spliced 2 together to get the 13-5/8” length needed

The one I have now was a gift from a neighbor some years ago... It is branded as Hurricane Horizon but is the same scope...

Below vid Shows a Hurricane Olympic which is pretty much same... I moved parallax to 35 yards from 50 yards on mine...

yep it is  a late 70s Kmart branded Japanese Tasco... was with a friend in Reno when he bought one for his .22... think it was about, 1977-78...

gold lettering and have seen them with just All Pro and with Kmart All Pro branding...

Creative and resourceful... great idea! 

Another way of removing that pump arm wobble is to install a washer between the 2 halves of the pump arm.

Dunno if this will work on the 362 though, but it’s a mod by Mudduck in the CAPOF.

Works really well like Charle’s Melon’s set.

have a fondness for the fine wire 4X32... so mounted it on the 2023... It likes JSB 18g, H&N 18g, CPHP 14.3 also... it's favorite by just a bit is the 15.8g JSB...

 Hatsan pellets nope, Superdomes catch a bit while loading but still manage bout an inch at 30 yards...  feel they might improve if I do some leade work...

 more to test..

have to say am really likening this rifle... of course will do testing to see just how far I can go accurately with the JSBs...

I've found the lighter JSB pellets, 13.43 and 14.35, shoot well with 3-5 pumps, while the heavier 15.89 and 18.1 need more pumps to bring velocity up for best accuracy.  In both of my 362s.  Funny, I have other guns that shoot them well at all velocities.
